Virgin Lightning part
Im probably not the only one who has never stuck the key in the door lock...... theres no need with the FOB and key pad.
I was thinking of disabling it so theives couldnt access the truck buy poping the door lock because a co-worker with a red 04 had his door lock punched or popped in the parking lot at Target, he was in the store for 10 minutes and came out to a alarm sounding. ( stupid arsses took his SVT manuals
, aftermarket radio and the factory trim piece, floor mats
, and CD case.
I guess there are 2 down sides of disabling the key lock. Theives would then break the glass after jacking with the door unsuccessfully or they might leave if breaking the glass would be too obvious ??
and 2nd .....if the battery died.....you would have to break the glass if your battery was not relocated.....mines relocated, do you see any other down sides to disabling the door lock ?

Disabling the lock in my opinion is a waste of time ...
If you want protection from breakins have a plate mounted behind the door handle ....
AND install a bar in the slider window track AND install unbreakable glass ....
Oh - by the way I have had 2 trucks broken into in 15 days......
The BEST way to avoid a break in is NOT change out the OEM radio and NOT leave any electronics visible in the car.

I brought my L to the Bay area in SF, Cali and one of the owner (Bay Area Stereo) told me that they have break ins all the time in the bay so, they custom made these False old school face plates for their customers to add-on so it looks like you got them 80's deck..........I was thinking about a DVD system in my L and that is why I am looking for options on my L.........
I have my car de-locked, i have remote central locking. It does stop the opportunist thief with a screwdriver from popping the lock which is the easiest way to break in. Obviously if the area was quiet then they will probably brick the window but if it was relatively busy then i doubt they'd waste their time in case someone heard them. If they want to steal the truck then nothing will stop them if they're determined to get away with it.
Mines been de-locked for 4-5 years, as long as you replace the battery in the fob once a year then you shouldnt have any problems.

i dont have an L, but somebody broke into my truck in july behind a chilis. they didnt break the window though, they jammed something (maybe a screwdriver) into the keyhole and jammed it down. they stole my alpine but not my $700 sub sitting behind my driver seat, so i wasnt really that mad.
