Thumbs down Another Warranty Denied

I own a 2003 Lighting and recently I noticed that the chrome plating on the inside drivers door handle has started to peel off. (I believe it to be from heat. As I live in So. Fla and the truck is parked in the sun at work and at home.) The truck only has 15,000 miles on it. So I take it back to Plantation Ford where I bought the truck. I go in and tell one of the service reps about it. He comes out and looks at it and tells me I must have taken a knife to it..... So I ask for the manger and he comes out, looks at it, and basically tells me hes never seen anything like this, blah, blah, blah. In a nut shell they said they are not going to cover it under warranty.

Is there anything that can be done?? I can't believe these people would think I would intentionally take a knife to the door handle. I told them it was from the So Fla heat. But they where convinced I took a knife to it.

Ask for the name and number of the regional claims adjuster, and call him. If that doesn't work, maybe a polite letter to the owner. If that doesn't work, maybe a not-so-polite letter from an attorney buddy might help, but that may be too much over a door handle.

I have an 03' DSG with 30k on it with the same problem. I haven't tried the warranty route, just planned on buying some aftermarket handles. If you need pictures let me know.
I never took a knife to them either, shoot I don't even let my wife smoke in the truck!

WTG Suavy !!!

Just remember guys, FORD has very little control
over the dealers. They are a bunch of independent
businessmen and pretty much do what they want to do.

Like boost the price of the GT by 150,000 dollars ... Jeez
I will never be able to buy one at that rate ... LOL

I see alot of posts about them peeling but mine have always been perfect?

Maybe the earlier trucks had better made ones? (jan 03 build for me.)

Don't think it is any better with Dodge dealers; I have spent 3 days trying to get 2 problems fixed. I get the run around everytime.
