JLP intake installation

Today I received my intake from JLP. I have a few questions, first- it came with two sheet metal screws, I used one to hold down the screen but I dont know where the other one goes? Second- does the box just sit in there, becuase the directions did'nt say anything about sucuring but it is a little loose? Third- has anyone ever noticed how jagged and rough the hole is in the inner fender where the air comes from? It looks like something a kid did with a torch. That kind of dissapointed me to find something like this on a $30,000.00 truck. Thank you!

The only sheet metal screw I got with mine was to hold the mesh lid onto the air box. I don't remember if the box was bolted down or if it just sat in there but I just went out to the truck and the box felt like it was bolted down. While I was out there, I also noticed that jagged opening in the fender. I didn't see that before but it does look crappy. You should call JLP to get some more answers.

i don't know about the second screw, but ya I got just one as well with mine and it was to hold the screen down over the top of the box. It also fits pretty snugly without being bolted down so I wouldn't worry about that if i were you

I used a metal screw to hold my tube to the scoop. Not sure if you have the scoop with your kit or just the box.

Thank you everyone! I called JLP and one screw is for the screen, and the other is for the tubing for the ram air which I did'nt buy. Also they said it just sits in there, no bolting required.

Cool

When I got mine it did not fit exactly right. I had to put a 3/4" block underneath it to make it line up with the C & L intake...

Well, now that the box lines up with the intake, the top rubs the hood. GRRR... 20 minutes with a cut-off wheel and the box is now short enough to clear the hood...

Well, after it had been in for a week or so, I started hearing a squeak...

It seems that the box was moving around a bit when the engine torqued over, causing the squeak...

So, a piece of 1/4" thick rubber mat under and around the box and it is now quiet.

When I contacted JLP about the fit, they said they had not had any complaints from other '04 owners.

So, I guess mine is the odd one out there... Story of my life !!!
