Cool Well, got my 4lb on and looking for advice

It is a definite improvement, but now I want to do a little more.

387 HP, 475 TQ

Mustang dyno, 74 degrees, very safe A/F tune.

Mods are:

4 lb. Metco lower, JL CAI, FTVB, FAL-270 fans, Predator tuned by Sam @ Coastal Dyno.

Sam told me that he felt my factory exhaust was hurting me more than anything else on my truck.

He said to forget about the Accufab and to get a good cat-back instead. That, with a ported Eaton, would take me to the "safe limits" of the stock lower end.

Thoughts ?

Just wanting to get near the 450 / 550 plateau...

I thought that the factory exaust was good for up to 500HP. Probably someone else can chime in on this.

I agree, which is why I think you should consider getting a KB running it at whatever boost you're running now (probably ~13psi) and you'll pick up 50+rwhp easily. No long tubes, no intake plenum, no TB, etc.

All the smaller things add up and you end up maxxing out the Eaton blower anyway. I know it _can_ be done with all the bolt-ons and a ported blower, though.

Like you, I'm thinking ~450rwhp to be safe on the stock block/trans.

The consensus as I've read in this forum is that the factory system is pretty darn good and the dollar cost in vs. hp out for the exhaust makes cat back systems questionable. But you do have an opportunity here. You know the numbers now, so do the cat back, with no other changes and post the results. I'd be sure to save enough to get the Accufab too. Dyno it with the exhaust and then with the Accufab. It can be installed while the truck is still on the dyno. I think the comparison may suprise you.

yea, there are some people with stock exhaust who are running high numbers, i think Rob has stock exhaust and is running 11's. Im sure its hurting him a little, but stock exhaust is fine for your application, it might help a bit, but i would spend the money elsewhere, well unless u want it to be louder, haha.

Thats the main reason I got my full exhaust. I know it wasen't the smartest move when it comes to the best bank for the buck mod, but its a mod that you sure can hear from far down the street even when I not hard on the go pedal.

Exhaust is def. not the best bang for the buck ! you can max out a stock block on stock exhaust, I have the full exhaust from JDM, sound is awesome, and did pick up around 30 rwhp, not peak.
you can get the same, or better hp gains, and a little more off your ET with a ported eaton than with exhaust, so for now $1600.00 for exhaust or $500.00 for ported eaton, your choice.
good luck

I'm going to take the risk of voicing my opinion here with the caveat that it is only my opinion and others may think differently.

I don't think you can get 450 even with the single blade and the ported Eaton. You might see 425, but I think it is going to take a larger, more efficient blower (or a bottle) to put 450 to the ground. As you know, the KB is available now. The Whipple is coming fairly soon. $500 does your Eaton and gets it close, but costs a lot less than the 3 grand for the KB.

Choices, choices, choices........................

The ported eaton is exactly what your wanting. Can be done easily via the mail and the cost is definately a good value.
