New Project

Modding a Windstar ovehead console.
I plan on installing a digital temp gauge that will read 3 different temp sensors (Trans, Intercooler and Water). I will also install my G-Tech gauge into this console so it's hidden and out of site when not in use.

It's in final sanding right now. Mold will be done right after Christmas.

How busy can you be in a one bedroom apartment. Things will be changing soon, I will be doing large house mods in the near future.

Can you say outside pizza oven and tiki bar.

All you need is a few sheets of sandpaper and some lightweight bondo in the light blue can. It's very simple. The smell of bondo is addictive, just a warning.

Here's what you do:

1) Sand the piece to be bondo with rough 80 grit paper. This helps the bondo adhere to the piece better.

2) Superglue the angle ring to the desired location, this is just to hold it till the bondo sets. At this time I superglued the underside so nothing moved or cracked. The front of the Windstar console has a small window that pops out.

3) Mix the bondo and add layers to get the desired contour, this will take the most time. Don't worry about smoothness, apply a layer, let it harden, then sand it down with 80 grit. Keep doing this till you final shape is achieved.

4) Now hit the peice with 100 and 220 grit paper.

5) apply spot putty to small holes in the bondo, sand smooth again with 220.

6) send to painters, never sand smoother than 220, the paint also needs something to stick to.

Not that hard, this only took me 2 days to complete.
