Stereo Upgrades

Hey guys,
I am looking into upgrading stereo for christmas. I was wondering what size rear speakers we have.
The setup I am thinking of going with is JL Audio 5x7 components in the front. JL 10w3v2 sub behing the passenger seat. I would like some recommendations on what rear speakers to go with. Also if there are any other speakers that are nice and sound good let me know. And could you post pics of a flip out screen and the brand if you have one in your truck.
Thanks,
Simon

Thanks Don. I remember a post a while back about you installing XM radio. I was wondering if you had any pics of where you mounted the antenna?
Thanks,
Simon

i would get a good head unit, and just unhook the rear speakers, you don't really need them

I just got some awesome info

Sirius now has a reciever that can hook up to newer Alpine AI Net head units

I just ordered the Sirius unit so I can now get rid of the XM radio and switch over to Sirius

unless you get a custom enclosure like i have.........there wont be nearly enough air space in a truck box to push a w3. Just something to think about

I Disagree. I had 3 JL 10W3 D2's in my truck before it crashed. The box was 0.6 cu.ft. I dont remember the specs, it was so long ago. I know that ther eis a member on her with 5 10's behind ther seat. I think it may be Killa.

What DVD players/flip outs are ready to connect to Sirius?

I have a JL 250-1 and a JL 10W3D2 behind the seats. Sub is directly behind the center console, amp is behind the passenger seat. The enclosure is TINY and it pounds. You don't need a big enclosure for that sub. I did not lose any seat travel with the install to give you an idea of how small. If I remember correctly, it is .5 or .6 cubic feet. Come to think of it, the average truck box (pre fab) is .75 cubic feet before displacement.

I would say spending any money on rear 5x7's is a waste. All it does is screw your front imaging. If anything, disconnect them. At the very least fade way forward.

With the unit I showed any of the 2004 Alpine head units that have the AI Net should work.

If you go a different brand of radio you will have to check with them. Also many head units have Sirius or XM built into them.
