Unhappy Please help....

So i have a 2000 L with predator, 4 lb pulley,JLP forced air kit, single blade T/B, 90 mm MAF, bassani exhaust, and dense it 22's plugs. When Im at 100 MPH i hear this pinging noise. Another lightning owner told me that i needed more fuel to my engine. Do you guys think that with my predator i can tune it so i wont have that noise anymore? Whit my mods should i be running lean or rich on my tune? Sorry for so many questions, if you can help me i will appreciate it alot.

Thanks,
Miguel_in_Denver

if you are using the tunes that came in the predator, put the stock one back in asap. Those tunes are junk and with the low octane gas available in Denver, you are asking for trouble.

I would recommend a custom tune from JL or PSP since they both deal with Predators. Just make sure to tell them you are in Denver and what octane gas you have so they can get the timing right. Runs around $100 or so.

The tunes in the predator are for people with 93 Octane available and even then, some were having major problems.

You are safer running with the stock tune.

Good luck!

I have almost exactly the same mods as you on a 200L. I've had custom tunes from two tuners--they were both unusable as were the stock and the "pulley" program in the Predator. However, with the "pullley and 90mm" program, the thing has worked fine. I also have the timing retarded 10% and the fuel richened 5%--and a recent dyno run showed 11.9 air/fuel ratio. Might want to try that!

Pinging noise is denotation, an is probably the biggest factor in most of the engines blowing up around here. The fact that you can hear is means that it is extremely bad. If I were you, I would get a dyno tune. Until then you should stay out of the throttle, or you have a good chance of blowing you motor. Other things to consider, is bad fuel, fuel filter, ect..., but since it is turing colder, I would bet it is your tune. Good luck and stay out of the throttle.

Miguel,
I'm a little rusty on the exact keystrokes, (since I stumbled onto a program that has worked fine, I haven't touched it in several months)....but,
Just plug the Predator back in, (make sure you are using the 'Pulley&90mm' program, go into modify parameters, scroll to fuel base--try +5% for starters, scroll to spark advance--try -10% (MINUS!!!)---and see if that helps you. I was seeing 18-19 deg. timing @ WOT until I changed it, now it's 16-17. Hope this gets you pointed in the right direction.
