Lightning -> F-150 Frame Swap
Lightning -> F-150 Frame Swap
Hello:
I have a chance to buy a 02 (I believe) Lightning, thats been rolled over for DIRT cheap, if it wasn't this cheap, I wouldn't consider it.
The frame is not damaged, but the cab is. Anyways, I was thinking of buying another F-150, and swapping over the cabs. Both are my cars, so no harm done, right?
I've seen how to take the cab off a truck, and doesn't seem too involved. My buddy has a workshop, and I can buy the body lift (the ones that are extended arms off of cherry pickers).
I've ALWAYS wanted an extended cab'd truck. My Ranger is regular cab, and I HATE trying to fit people inside. I hate it when I try to carry things, like my books, I don't have any room for another person or anything else, unless I keep it outside, and risk them getting wet. Now the question is, can I swap an extended cab on the Lightning's frame?
What about the wiring? Can I use the stock 4.6L wiring on it? I've read that the 2V 5.4L people can throw on the Lightning supercharger, MAF sensor, and re-chip the ECU, and they don't need anything else. Can I do the same with the 4.6L? What about the security system (forgot the abreviation) built into the ECU?
Would there be a difference between the cabs of a V6 and a V8?
And just for kicks, could an Expedition chassis fit on a Lightning frame?
Thanks for all the input!

Or are you talking about the frame swap?
Thanks

The frame length is different between the extended cab and standard cab trucks. You could certainly swap the Lightning powertrain into the e-cab chassis, but you can't put the e-cab on the Lightning frame.
