Looking for a Tamiya RC?

Hey I want to get a Tamiya for my son, yes really, and I've been using the search button and looking on EBAY and then came across these guys.

Anyone ever bought from them, and is this a fair deal? Thanks for the info, happy holidayshttp://www.etamiya.com/catalog/produ...roducts_id=423

They are more expensive but I have done business with them before. The one you posted looks like a good buy.

i used to have an RC10 Truck way back ..... heck, prolly like 10 years ago... anyway, I remember having a blast building/racing that thing.... wish I still had it...

anyway, does this at all compare to a "real" remote control? im not into it at all, so excuse my ignorance.... or is this more of a "toys r us" kind of truck???

they are 2 Tamiya Electric lightnings

Ones mine and ones sixpipes - See if you can guess which is which ... ;-) Mine has the HPI body on it -

With some mods my Tamiya hauled *** - Bearings, hopped up speedcontrol - suspension work and a motor made it so fast it was tough to keep up with - which is why its in pieces now...

Someday ill take all my parts and rebuild it - The RS4 belongs to DavidN - He hasnt been around F150 in a while. Its fast too...

it all depends on how old your son is, if he is younger, I would go with the Tamiya, he can grow with it and hop it up while he ages. If he is older, I would suggest the RS4 or even the Super RS4. If he has owned RC's for awhile, definately the SRS4. I hope I steered you in the right direction. BTW, any of these vehicles are better quality, faster and more rebuildable than any toys'r'us stuff.

PS, if you have any more Q's, feel free to email me, I have been racing for awhile and have been in the hobby for more years and dollars than I care to count. RCing is my second love, next to the L.

I've got a Team Associated TC3 that has been hopped up and have a couple of the Tamiya bodies I still need to fit to it. Might be a winter project as I dont have enough to spend on anything truck wise right now, lol.

I've got a Tamiya I bought about 5 years ago and me and my nephew played with it for a few weeks during my summer vacation, it's been on the shelf since. I'd be willing to part with it for a song if you're interested, drop me an e-mail at GBEvans@peoplepc.com
I have the charger and battery etc...

Hey guys, I used the search button and this is the closest thread I could get. So if no one pays attention to it, I am going to have to start my own thread.

http://www.hobbytron.net/Tamiya-XB-S...tning-RTR.html

I was thinking about buying that RC. Does anyone have any experiance with these? Are they pretty quick, and can you paint the shell, Id rather make it look more my L, then Vinnies. It would be my first R/C but there are a lot of guys who got some out here and I want to keep up with them.

The Tamiya is closer to a toy than to a real RC racer. If your friends race theirs, they will kill you.

I've done RC for about 15 years. Anything you run in anger will get beat up. Buy the Tamiya as a shelf queen. If you want an RC car to race, go to eBay and buy someone's entire setup cheap. For $100 or so, you can get a real RC racer with batteries, charger, radio, and all.

tamiya kit is the ONLY way I know to get a real Lightning Body ... Which is kinda pointless unless its a shelf queen cause the body will get bashed up quick. I had a Tamiya kit that was pretty quick - BUT it had lots of $$ of upgrades I got off ebay from someone who was selling 3 tamiya kits

But the Tamiya kit is plastic frame with the mechanics all inside - so when I flipped it one too many times over a road titty the chassis broke.
I have a movie files somewhere of it racing a semi and flipping to death

That thing looks fun to drive, i might have to ask Santa to bring me one. :santa: Heck i enjoy my huge Silver New Bright Lightning, it's big and not so fast but it is still fun. I take it to car shows with me to give me something to do while i'm sitting there, i buzz it around my truck and it get's all the kid's attention. Where it looks like my real Lightning, people seem to get a kick out of the little Lightning and the big 'L'.
