its seems ok to me, and my truck was lowered near 5 inches

 

hmmm... according to Pauls High Performance if you drop your truck 2" the pinion angle angle is increased to 2 degree's negative. Meaning it will hook a lot better.

So being that you dropped it 5" I'm GUESSING you are about 4-6 degrees negative pinion angle. That is provided that you didn't Shim the angle of the rear end.

However, the only way, ONLY WAY to be sure is to measure it.

Measure the angle and report back

 

First of all, NEVER believe anything you read in a magazine .

Second of all, it's hard to tell without a gauge on it, but from your pic, your pinion angle looks POSITIVE at rest. That's not good.

uh oh thats not good then, its still on an angle, i thought thats all that really mattered, i dont want to be going threw u joints ect

You can pick up shims at your local truck center.They go between the axle and leafs if i remember correct.Very cheap to fix.You might wanna do a search on how to measure pinion angle.If not corrected u can get vibrations which arre tranferred to the u joints and drive train.I believe that the rear should dip down slight and in your pics it seems to pitch up slight.You dont want it up cause when u take off from a stop the axle dips down and unloads on the rear tires resulting in loss of traction.

You can't guess, you need to measure your actual truck. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, you can have a good speed shop or chassis shop do it. You will need shims, and also new spring pack bolts to take up the extra distance of the shims. You wan't about -3* for a street driven truck.

see my problem is that in my area there are no shops like that, so eveything i do i haev to do myself, and in this area, there are not very many lightnings as it is so nobody really knows to much about them!

anyone have a picture of a stock shaft so i can see what type of angle its on??
