Guys...

I know alot about this subject and have made plenty of good posts about it, try a search if you want pics of parts and stuff.

You have WAY POSITIVE in your picture..... You really want it to look about that angle on the downside for a street truck. I dont care what ANYONE tells you, axle wrap on a leaf spring will happen.

Ever wonder how I got 1.59-1.61 60 foots on a stock convertor? Its all in the suspension.

-3 is about right on a street truck, -5 is for MAXIMUM traction but I would tell someone who drives thier truck alot to set it up like that, it will wear out your u-joints faster.

If you leave it like that, you will break your driveshaft on a hard hooking launch. Been there done that.....

Adding in some -3 shims put me at -4, and now the truck pulls the wheels.

Well, you weren't one of the gurus I was talking about, but you did help me greatly with the situation, and also supplied me with the proper parts to fix it. And for that, you get the coveted PSP two thumbs up..

So if a stock truck is at -1 and -3 is optimal for traction on a street driven vehicle how does one get there?

ok here it is, i measured at the rear end (on the tail stock part) it read 90 degrees

and i measured on the actual driveshaft and it measured +3 close to + 4

so i have to get it down to -3 ????

is that alot to move it??

will i need major shims?

You may need Colonel Shims for that job. A major may not cut it

I have nothing to offer except the fact that I'm now paranoid that my 3" drop has me out of whack. Sal did tune my ECM though, so at least only drivetrain metal will fly

When I dropped my truck I had 7 Deg of shims installed. I had a 4deg shim and a 3 deg shim. They dont like you to stack shims but I had them on for 1000's of passes with no problems. If you cant find the parts I could get you what you need.

Sounds like you will need two shims unless you want to have a pro shop cut and reweld spring perches on the rear....

Here are some pictures....

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ighlight=shims

What you need is the following:

Biggest Pinion Angle Shims you can find, 4 or 6 shims I think is the biggest. I would get a 4 and a 3...
New Leaf Spring center bolts with extension washers.

If you go to a 4x4, Spring shop, speed shop, or something like that they will have it all.

This is a VERY OLD SCHOOL traction mod.... THAT WORKS!
