My Rearend was Shot...

Has any of you needed your rearend rebuilt? I just had mine rebuilt. They installed a new carrier assembly, bearings and races. I guess this was caused due to drag racing with slicks.

Yes, it is very common. The rear has clutches in it that wear.

You could just replace the clutch pack, but most shops replace the whole carrier, it's easier.

Yes, I did about 10K miles ago. Clutches were gone. Could barely get the other side to spin.

Is there a kit for the rear end with beefier parts like the Monster In A Box kit?

Cool

HI!... Yes, I rebuilt mine last year. Totally destroyed it. Worn clutches, cracked carrier and chipped/broken gears. I guess the 9.75 rearend is not as strong as FORD thinks it is LOL!

ditto,

or something more than posts that confirm that your rear end was also shot (Neal ) ...... How about some info on the rebuild ??? Did you go to the ford dealer for the posi rebuild kit for the 9.75 , did you search for any upgrade parts, ....helpful hints on the rebuild etc etc...

I have 5K on my truck and it peg legged once but it was around a corner and the weight was shifted to the drivers side in second gear..... Im working one wearing it out at the track with slicks......my line lock is slowing down this process

I thought Detroit Locker was supposed to come out with a beefier posi for us. Or you could just run a spool and not even worry about the posi going bad.

Currently Eaton and Auburn make posi's for the 9.75, I don't know of a Detroit Locker or spool for it.

What does this mean?

I have a rattle ucoming from underneath the truck. Got it checked and I'm told that my pinion bearings are totally shot.

The driveshaft moves up and down (tons of slack). Apparently, this is really dangerous and I guess the driveshaft could come off...

What do I likely need to repair this? Rear ends (at least on cars) are what I least understand.
