I am looking to get rid of my Harley and come on over to the Lightning world.When I get my Lightning I plan on getting built motor and all the usall bolt ons.My question is what is the differnce if I get a 99-01 or 02-04.Motor shouldn't matter cause I would be going with built so what would be the differnce in the years besides gears?

 

the newer ones 03-04 have beefier blocks and 8 thread heads that don't spit out spark plugs.

Opposite that for pre-03

 

Sonic Blue is only available in 03 & 04 which has an addition of 30hp which makes them the fastest stock Lightning’s, this is why they are referred to as “Sonic Boom”. I am not sure where the extra horsepower and torque comes from you just have to trust me on it…


Go for the gusto, get the 03 or 04 sonic blue and own the only production truck in the world capable of creating sonic booms in your neighborhood…

99-00 have an 80 mm MAF vs a 90 mm on all other years.

Different shocks in the 99-00

The bed is higher on the 03-04 models

some smaller differences in the interiors are present between all
years.

99-00 have steel drive shafts

the tail lights and head lights changed in 01+

wheels of course changed every two years

03-04 models have no tool box behind the seat and use an in dash disc changer instead of the standard 6 disc behind the seat

I may be leaving some things out...but this is off the top of my head
