I need a new posi.

Should I have Ford put another unit in or is there a better posi on the market for a 600 hp engine?

stock is about the best option as i've heard issues with the other options out there but that was awhile ago so not sure what new out there. i believe you can buy a rebuild kit for the stocker.

Stock rears work OK for awhile, but they don't last too long with a 600 hp motor...

I would NOT buy a used stock posi!!

Thats funny that you say that. Sal is using a stock rearend and he has more than 600 Hp. As far as I know everyone is using one except Stan.

I didn't say that they were bad, I am using one also( I run over 600 RWHP). But, I have replaced mine once already, they just don't last very long when you are using them hard.. I race every weekend and put hundreds of runs on in a season, that's why. They are a wear item, that's why I would not buy a used one!

There are many people out here running eaton posi and are very happy with them. I run one in my Mustang and am very happy with it. I will be switching to the Eaton over winter in hopes that it lasts longer than the stock units do...they are alot easier to rebuild anyway..

Thanks for the replys. I just went around a corner and thought I was going straight and gave it some gas and it shifted to second then hit third and I was'nt going any faster. I looked into the mirror to merge with traffic and I could'nt because of the cloud of smoke from one long black tire mark( I went back to look to see if both tires were spinning ).

I blew mine up earlt this year and looked into aftermarket units and only found that Auburn is the only after market posi unit out right now for a 9.75 Ford rear.As far as Eaton,i could be wrong but when i called Jegs they couldnt find an Eaton unit for me.I saw that Detroit is making an worm gear locker now but as far as i know nothin for the Ford 9.75.But as soon as i do hear of one i think that that would be the way to go.But as for now,the stock track lock is the only way to go.

Mike, Just curious why do you say that the stock Posi is the way to go over the Eaton or the Auburn?

The Auburn is far superior as it does not use clutches!

The Eaton is a clutch type Posi, but with carbon fiber faced clutch packs?

Her is a link to the Eaton:

http://www.reiderracing.com/eatonposi.htm

and for the Auburn:

http://www.reiderracing.com/auburngearpre.htm

Both units are available for the 9.75 Ford rear.

I am familiar with the Auburn and they are good(better than stock), but wondering if the Eaton is better yet??
