I am open to any ideas

Hopefully I don't have to sell my seats and get a new pair
custom machine billet piece. it will still cost you a small chunk of change but a helluva lot cheaper than getting a mold made.

or just take the seats to a custom apolstery shop and have the seat back cut down an inch or whatever.

As mentioned...the injection mold process would be crazy expensive but if you insist on plastic parts..... up in your area you should be able to find a quick turn around prototyping shop that specializes in one offs or a model shop that might have a Stereo Lithography machine.
Good Luck

I would think you could get a decent price for your seats and then look at Spearco ones. I would think it to be hard to get the seat modified and looking as good as new, unless you found a good place to do the work.

The other option is to find a race shop that mainly does race cars and see if they can help you. I'm not sure if they ever modified a seat or just bought the proper seats that fit the driver best.

Lets no forget that the purpose the the should belt is to keep youin the seat.NOT plant you donw into it.That is what the lap belts are suppose to do.IF your should belts are pushing you down into the seat theya re not rite. What can happen in a crash is the should harness can actually cause spinal compression. The way I have my belts set is the sub belt is adjust permantally, the lap belt on the inside is adjusted so that when a by stander[yes a by stander] pulls on the outside lap belt it puts the release in the center of my plevis then the should belts are tighten by the same bystander as I exhaul. The should harness is just holding me so I can not move forward and the lap belt holds you in the seatand the should harness keeps you from sliding out incase of a roll over. And when i say tight I mean tight!they are pulling almost as hard as they can!STan

Guys thanks for the advice, I will look into the other options you gave me

Stan
I scanned a picture from the Hans Manual that shows how my belts should work, and how mine are actually working.

Hey Don,couldn't you bring it to an apohlster and just have him lower the plastic peice and add material to the hole left above it.

Ya but to high is no good either, and a basiler skull fracture is worse than spinal compresion.

If I am going to use a Hans Device I am going to make sure it fits and works right. Even if I have to sell the Recaros and buy some other seats. Which is starting to look like the best choice, especially since Recaro doesn't seem to want to help me solve my fitment problem.

Like somebody else said, why not have an upholstery shot take your existing pieces and move them to where you need them and then fill in the existing holes?

Don, if you are going to sell your seats let me know. I might be interested in them since I am a taller guy. Let me know and I will take them off your hands. If I keep my truck I will be getting a cage and would like to do seats and harnesses. Best of luck and let me know what you are going to do. -Mat-

Exclamation I do this all the time,

meaning, get a bought part, model it in SolidWorks, and then change it to suit my new design. It is not too expensive to get a one-off part made at a machine shop, especially if you can live with plastic.

You will need to go to a machine shop with a NC multi-axis milling machine and usually they will know people (like me) that can model and modify the existing part and send them the cad files.
