I have a stock hood, and installed the C&L plenum WITH a phenolic spacer (JDM). this was after i took the time to smooth and paint the plenum. after 1st ride, opened hood, hood was hitting plenum on back rib of hood, taking off the paint. had to take it back off, and redo. this time, an air saw was used to remove the part of rib hitting plenum - about 6 inches. dressed it up - looks stock. i see no hood flex issues, with all the remaining ribs. i did not cut the rib enough to separate into left and right, just middle enough for clearance. seems ok now, even after 1/4 mi runs

alot of work. i believe w/o the phenolic spacer, i may have been ok, but who knows.

ya i have phenolic spacer too .... my hood is a 2 layer because of the cowl in the center.... so i could cut a small hole in the hood and it would not show on the outside, just when hood is open... would kinda be like a little cubby for the plenum to fit in....

but that seems kinda ghetto.... looking for other alternatives....

i am getting a cowl hood (cervini's).
00Bolt - is yours a Cervini's ? just wanted to know because i thought this would solve the problem. i like the spacer, as it has made my bracket times pretty consistent, in my opinion.

if it is a cervini's then the cowl does not help with clearance ?

thanks

Scott,

We have had this issue here in the shop before with the exact same hood and the Plenum and spacer. The only thing you can do is to massage the hood a little to clear. It should clear with out the P. Spacer but the two work really nice together.

00Bolt,

I have the same hood and have encountered rubbing when using the JDM 100mm MAF pipe and stock plenum. Its just a rch, and its right where the flat part of the hood dips down. Temporarily I have just stuck some foam tape on there. I am hoping to have a more permanent fix soon...

Mine rubbed also, with the JLP ram-air hooked up to it, I ditched the CL, thing was a piece of junk anyway.

I have the JDM phenolic spacer and my C & L plenum rubs on the hood reinforcement a bit too - knocked a bit of paint off and left a mark on the intake. I havn't done anyhthing about it yet - but I'm going to "massage" that reinforcement bar a bit to get some clearance. This may be the "reason" that why after installing the C & L plenum, I also noticed some additional "noise." I'd guess that the plenum rubbing on the hood reinforcement is transferring the "engine" vibrations to the hood, which is transferring this additional "noise" to the rest of the vehicle.
