Heads and cam combo?

In my never ending guest for more power I am thinking its time to get new cams and get some work on my heads. I don't want to add more boost to my setup I am already running 6 lbs of extra boost with a ported eaton on a stock block.

Who has a good deal on cam and heads combos? I want to get stage II cams and just minor work done to my heads a stage I job.

Are all stage II cams the same? (comp cams, crower, mod max)

Thanks everyone.

My current mods:

4lb lower
2lb upper
ported eaton
long tube headers with full exhaust/ no cats/ with X-pipe
sb/tb
Open element CIA

From what I have read, the stock heads are not worth porting, or tryin to get more airflow out of. You would be better off buying an aftermarket set of heads, and then going to stage2 cams.

I have J.L.P ported heads and stage 2 comp cams. Its got a nice lope to the sound and feel but in my opinion i dont think it was worth the $1800 for the heads and $1200 for the cams.I know people with the same mods i got without the heads and cams and are pushing close to the same power.I hear they work well with an aftermarket blower but i havent crossed that bridge yet.

Man you got seriously ripped off on the cams, whoever sold 'em to you took you to the cleaners. You can call Comp Cams and get a set of billet cams, any profile (even custom profiles) for 524.95 a set. Valvesprings are 179.95. Who sold you a set for 1200?

$1200 for cams?

Loosebolt has Livernois make a custom set for him for a little over 1/2 of that.

there is no "aftermarket" head available for our trucks.

all of the aftermarket heads are just ported stockers.

Not bashing;

why use thread inserts? why not use the new heads with 8 threads or whatever they have?

I thought tuners were using Patriot heads for porting... Guess I was wrong

Why not just buy the heads directly from Patriot for $1300 less.

You should see gains of anywhere between 40-60 HP on a basic bolt on Eaton truck.

I had mine ported and polished with 1MM over sized valves cut in. They are making great power so far. Tunners have had fun trying to get my AF ratio set though.

Most thought, "You can't be moving that much air!"

When we got my built engine in and let it warm up we reved it twice and colapsed the K&N filter.

There is 1/16" between my injector port and my intake port on my intake also.
