Exclamation Drag Racers: track-spy advisory.

I was intending to make a post about this subject a few weeks back and got sidetracked, however this post on NLOC prompted me to iterate this advisory:

http://nloc.org/forum/showthread.php...765#post679765

HRP(Houston Raceway Park) racers: Be advised that agents that work for AMCO, GEICO and Progressive fish there on Wed/Friday nights, as well as freelance contractors for Subaru, Mitsubishi and Dodge. They are targeting road-driven vehicles and are photographing the vehicle in the process of racing. They will photograph your plates and try to get a shot of your VIN in the staging lanes.

1. Always remove your plates prior to competing.

2. Tape over your windshield viewable VIN number, and any engraved VINs on the other glass.

3. Secure your vehicle at all times. Report any suspicous activity to the track operations staff. They are proactively kicking these guys out and handing repeat violators over to the authorities.

4. Post racing, clean up the shoe polish numbers with alcohol and remove any other indicators of competition.

I've snatched up an a$$hole that squealed like a pig when I was racing my STi. He tried to peel of the tape to photograph my VIN in the staging lanes. We turned his a$$ over to the off-duty Sherrif, who said that he was told several times not to return. Bingo, tresspassing. He admitted to working for Subaru warranty. Dodge SRT-4 owners have had simular alterfications with Dodge agents. This is getting stupid.

you would think the small percentage of cars that go to the track combined with the even smaller percentage of the said cars that make insurance claims warrant the cost of insurance reps. making trips to the track.... ....

must be some kind of bonus program by local insurance offices?????????? or reps. on some kind of brown noser escapade......

anyway, whats the point ?? they are going to prove your damage claim was at the track ?, because after wrecking you might tow your vehicle to the nearest public road, stage the area, gouges in the road and scatter debris around

call the police to make an accident report.......

Just call GIECO and tell them that you do not legally race at the race tracks you only street race and want to raise your collision insurance up a little bit just in case you take out a guard rail on a bad night.
They did the something to me in 1987 with the 4x4 I had. Sent me a little letter with a picture in the mail stating that they where canceling my insurance because I had been off roading! The picture was of my truck stuck in the swamp. Funny thing is I never out a claim in for anything, called them and told them to send my *******ing refund! Still have the $0.29 check framed, hope it screwed up there book keeping. I haven't used them since and I don't recommend them to anyone especially military!

just my .02 worth!

this has been happening in MD for a while.

I never heard of state farm doing it, but their regional HQ is about 30 miles from 2 local drag strips....

I had a friend that raced his dodge once at the track, then had a head gasket failure a month later, dealer had a copy of his tech card from the track firebird raceway phoenix ,az,and denied his warranty. when i race i spell my name diffrent still sounds the same, list truck as a 99 which it's not, stick a buisness card in between the dash and windsheild, covering the vin, and remove the plate. Sucks to have to do all this just to race.
