I have a factory tech valve body. It shifts like I want it, and Gregg is the man on trannies. (transmissions not cross dressers). He has answered all of my questions honestly.

well I have ridden in a truck with the LFP valve body and I was supposed to install that in my truck but it got traded in before that could happen. I bought a FTVB and my truck shifts exactly the same way that truck did with the LFP valve body.

What exactly is different about them I do not know but both shifted and felt identical.

Just my $0.02

FTVB

I just called Chikenears yesterday and placed an order myself.
My buddy has the FTVB on his L and has had no problems or complaints....

PS, I received a confirmation e-mail on the order within 15 minutes of calling it in and a delivery confirmation this AM from FedEx.....Awesome service !

But no one has said why the Fact tech is better, or why they bought it.

The other one is said to do the same thing and is 65.00 cheaper..

Is there a reason to spend the extra 65.00 dollars?

Just a self made personal choice for me mainly....lots of guys/gals here are running the FTVB w/ no issues and a close friend of mine is running one himself.

The $65 difference was not a factor.
The solid reputation Gregg Evens has regarding transmissions was.

Dang straight. Tim is awsome, he actually seems intrested in all his customers and their needs. He strives to get everyone what they want. He emailed me to let me know he got my order and was shipping it. I know where I am getting my floor mats from.

LFP's is pure Art Carr. I'm running their Stage1 set-up. No complaints here.

cglenn,

Only Gregg Evans is qualified to answer this question sufficiently, that's why nobody so far has given you any concrete answers.

Gregg developed this style of shift kit through many hours of R&D. Without Greggs work, no other vendors would even be selling a copy cat version. In my opinion, I would buy it on loyalty only but that's not good enough for most people and we all understand that.

Gregg has built over 38000 transmissions and has been deeply involved in the design of several of the transmissions that power the Ford vehicles you see everyday on the highways. He has a *complete* understanding of how they work and how they fail. I dare to say that any of the copy cat dudes even know how they work, leave alone how they fail.

Anybody can buy off-the-shelf-valves and attempt to make a transmission shift harder, but without the understanding of how they can fail and the other problems that can occur without this understanding you're walking the fine line between reliability and catastrophic pump failure.

When you buy a FTVB, you're not only buying a shift kit, you're buying the knowledge that it took to make them in the first place and the security of knowing that the BEST IN THE BUSINESS built it personally.

Sure, there are copy-cats but there is only one FTVB and it has some custom made modifications that can't be bought off the shelf, Gregg does this in his machine shop.

Our customer service is second to none too, ask anyone!

It's your choice, and remember, you will never find any aluminum shavings clinging to the grease on a Factory Tech 2C.

Thanks Tim

Thanks for the background and I without a doubt now have the backup for my decision to purchase a FTVB.

Thank to all who have responded.

PS: Gregg if you feel like chiming in I am sure alot of others would like to hear a little on the technical side. Meanwhile I will be orcering from Chickenears

valve bodies

I say go with the customer service and knowledge of Gregg and Tim. I took apart these 2 units way back.... its in the old threads. I let makers/suppliers know I was,, Gregg sent us a complete breakdown of what he does and why he does it,, I got nothing from the other party involved, (thats fine , its their choice). I was impressed with what I read and found with Greggs unit.

Since then I have installed approx 40 -50 units for my customers L's, Plow vehicles and Tow vehicles without a hitch. I used to carry them in stock but now just refer customers to Tim @ chikenears ,, I know when I have been out-done in price and customer service.. Tim you are the man!

How many things you buy are warranted for life,, even if you DID NOT buy it in the first place! (i.e. I have seen Gregg send out a new unit to folks on this board when the unit came in the truck when it was bought , AND just to eliminate the chance of it being the valvebody causing the problem!)

Tim, those shavings are scary!!!!
