Are cam bolts necessary?
Our trucks did come with bolts, but they're not camber bolts. They don't have the camber washers, just that stupid little shim. If you ever want to get your truck aligned, you must install the camber bolts. I bought mine from Roush. I prefer to give someone other than Ford my money, because they sold us a truck with known problems that they refuse to fix. The Roush bolts are a tad more expensive, but they look to be just as beefy as the Ford bolts.
More confusion
Now, I've just talked to two dealers and they tell me the same thing:
The cam bolts F65Z-3B236-BB I need four right? Are $8 each
The washer F65Z-3C178-AA Also need 4? Are $25 each. The dealers tell me that the washer above is for a 4WD and is not adjustable. The recommend F75Z-3B236-BB for a two wheel drive truck which also has a 3/4 degree adjustment. This washer is $4.50 each.
The above prices are in Canadian dollars but there shouldn't be that much difference anyways.
I would appreciate if someone could clarify this because I'm supposed to put this in on Monday.
Thanks,
TB

They must not have adjusted your camber(it may have still been within specs), or if they did, it was from the slot on the lower control arm. That's not the right way to do it. You need Herb's washers to hold the driver's side lower control arm in place and you need camber bolts. After installing the washers and bolts, you need to get your truck aligned. If you don't, eventually you will see uneven tire wear on your front tires and you could have other problems(ie: premature ball joint wear). I got lucky when I did this work on my truck, the alignment didn't move. But, you won't know that unless you have it checked. It's well worth it, these F1's aren't cheap! I wouldn't trust what Ford says and/or does. Don't assume they know what they're doing or care for that matter.
BTW...there is a wealth of information on this topic, do a search. That way you can come to your own conclusion instead of having to take someone's word for it.

I got this info from Roush's site. Cam bolts - $6.00/each. Cam washers - $6.00/each. I believe that's what I paid for them back in June, but i couldn't find the receipt. I would highly recommend going with the Roush parts. Also, the job won't be complete without a set of Herb's washers to hold the driver's side lower control arm in place. I paid $30 for the set(2 washers). You can send David Lynn an email and he will hook you up.
