I had the same problem. My truck shifted erratically when the TPS died also. I replaced the TPS and everything was fine. Check your TPS voltage or ohms...whichever way you prefer. Clear the code and see if it comes back.

i just found this not sure what some of the abreviations stand for

P0123 - Throttle Position (TP) Circuit High Input The TP sensor circuit is monitored by the PCM for a high TP rotation angle (or voltage) input through the comprehensive component monitor (CCM). If during key ON engine OFF or key ON engine running the TP rotation angle (or voltage) changes above maximum calibrated limit, the test fails. TP sensor not seated properly
TP circuit short to PWR
VREF short to PWR
SIG RTN circuit open to TP sensor
Damaged TP sensor
Damaged PCM
A TP PID (TP V PID) reading greater than 93% (4.65 volts) in key ON engine OFF, continuous memory or key ON engine running indicates a hard fault.

does your scan tool have datta logging? if so what does the tps v say? Does it move?

What i'd do is make sure none of the terminals never slid out of the hard pack connector at the tps - then take my 10megohm digital meter and see if i have 5v vref against a good ground (not the tps wiring) if thats good then i'd take my ground probe of my meter and go of the signal return (ground) of the tps and see if thats good - from the code i'd think that would be bad (think) but if thats good then i'd test the singal circuit in the same way as the vref ciruit for power when the connector is unplugged - if it has power then its shorted.

Trucks running fine now. Ended up being one of the wires going to the tps.
