Back plug removal

what do I need to remove the very last plug on either side of the engine? I can not get to them w/ the tools I have. Any tips on the removal of these two nasty plugs would help.. Plug changes on these things are a pain in the ****...

I just use a 2" 1/4 drive extension with a 7mm socket. You can reach in and set the socket on top of the bolt then reach in with a ratchet and plug it into the extension.....takes some patience the first time or two grasshoppa............

edit:that's for the coil pack bolt...
for the plug you need a couple of 6" extensions, a couple of 3" and a swivel. You'll need to assemble a combination of extensions with the swivel, drop down the hole and then use a couple more extensions on the ratchet.....confused???

hold on a few minutes, I'll get you a pic....JR

you may or not need another 3" ext on the spark plug socket..The 3rd 6" extension on the ratchet end is optional as well

hope this helps.....JR

Go to your local auto parts and buy an extra long spark plug socket. I got one and it made a huge difference in the ease and amount of time the job takes. They are not expensive unless you purchase a name brand like Snap-on for about $60. Here is what I'm talking about so you get an idea.

Well HardwareMan, you're the expert. You have a choice of helicoil, or if the boss is thick enough, tap the next size larger thread into it.

As an aside, HardwareMan, you must refrain from tightening these little suckers as if they were 1/2 inch grade 8 bolts.
