Gotta love PSP

But I have to buy new tires now. Thanks alot Sal . Ran at the track last night with a best of 13.21 @ 103. .194 r/t, 1.97 60 foot. I ran this on f1's, just cleaning them off with a little smoke. I didn't fry em in the box, cause I heard the f1's get greasy after you boil em. I stalled to 1200-1400, and left the line 1/2 throttle rolling into wot about 1 second after launch. I tried just stomping down on it with no stall, and fried the tires through the 60 foot mark. Any suggestions to get 13.1? I did get a .050 r/t last night once. with a 1.93 60 foot. That only got me a 13.27 at 103. Thanks again to PSP

mods? Good 60ft's though. Really not much more that you can do on your launches, you seem to have it down pretty good. To gain a few tenths I would go with some traction bars, ftvb, and a good cold air. Don't know your mods so it's hard to give advice.

Mods are 4# lower, predator tune from Sal, home made ram air setup, panel k&n, lakewood traction bars. I have a JLP airbox on order, and a c&l inlet pipe. Would I need a re-tune for those items?

Thanks for the response and the info. I want a ftvb but can't get one right now. Wife said she wants a new couch and chair set for the house, and the one she wants costs a fortune of course.

unless I'm missing something, you should be in the high 12s with your combo.

on F1s and your setup, I'd suggest launching from idle (800) to no higher than 1000 rpms. learn to roll into the throttle from idle and you should be able to lower your 60 foot times. on F1s I just try to roll into the throttle as fast as traction will allow for. roll in too slowly and you aren't getting the best launch, roll in too fast and you are smoking the tires. you just have to get some runs under your belt practicing to see what your truck and your local track will work best with. if you can get to the track early one day and get a few back to back runs in this will give you a better chance to practice. just hotlap the truck, you aren't going to get the best ET or MPH, but it will allow you back to back comparisons on your launch. you can try one way, and then while it's still fresh in your memory, line up and experiement with a little faster roll into the throttle until you find the limit.

in any event I've gotten 1.76 60ft times on F1s launching from idle. 1200 to 1400 is too high in my opinion. BTW, I ALWAYS ran my F1s at 32psi.

depending on the temperature, amount of sun, track prep, and other conditions, I used to heat my F1s for as long as 5 seconds.
if the sun is out and the track is prepped and the surface is sticky, then that time may reduce.

but don't be afraid to go through the water box and heat the F1s.

just the chip and pulley should have you in the 12.80s depending on altitude.

but if you can knock a tenth off of your 60 foot time with a better launch, that'd likely net you a 12.90.

good luck.

later,
chris

I have done a 1.823 on F1's so you do have some room for inprovement . But as stated many varables come into play................

Thanks guys.

Chris, I had the tires at 35 psi, and just turned them over enough to get a light smoking from them. stalled to 1200 and launched half throttle rolling into wot 1 and a half seconds into the run. I need more time at the track with the new mods, it has alot more power than it used to.

Jim, altitude is around 1200 feet, and the temp started around 78 degrees, dropping to 61 by my last run. No one was hooking very well. I saw multiple 10 second cars getting low 11's. I will vary my tire pressure next time, and use a lower stall speed. I am getting a line loc, and a ftvb next week.

One more thing about the tree. I was leaving on the last yellow, and only redlighted once. I was tickled pink when I got the .050 r/t. Most of the rest were .17x and higher. One was -.022

Thanks again guys and I will try everything next time. If I am supposed to be in the 12.8x range, then what do you think I will get with the JLP airbox, c&l inlet pipe, nx 75 shot, it24 denso's, e-fan and a metco idler. Also another tune from Sal. This stuff will be on f1's, or slicks, if I can get a set in the near future.

Running 13.2 in 78 degree heat is nothing to be ashamed of... With your new mods its the nitrous thats going to make you go better, its the cooling agent... Dam man, you need slicks dude... Making a lot of power is no good unless you can plant it to the rear wheels............. Can't speculate on the new times, have not had much experience with the laughing gas.... I heard all the time about not heating up f1's and really didn't have much good luck getting it out of the hole... Then Bufert T. Justice told to heat them as if they were slicks, so I did and then I started getting my 60' down much lower... Please lower the air pressure in your tires also... Good luck....

Right on, thanks. I will boil the tires next time and launch from idle. It was still a little humid also, and a front moved through after it got dark.

just to let you know, your reaction time has nothing to do with your times, it's good practice though for bracket racing - that is when you will need good reaction times. I always leave on the last yellow too.

I agree with the reaction times. I always find it funny that people still think r/t has anything to do with the trap speed or et. The numbers only start when you and you only cross the line, other than that, r/t is good for bracket racing and the dude lined up across from you. Good luck.
