C&L Intake Plenum - Phenolic Spacer Problem?

How many Lightning Owners have purchased the C&L Intake Plenum and Phenolic Spacer, then to find out, the Phenolic Spacer inside diameter port is larger and needs to be machined down to fit?? Any and all replies would be appreciated.

Who's Phenolic Spacer are you using in your setup?

Did you take a look at the mating of the spacer and intake plenum inside ported area together, to make sure it was the same size matched porting of both, before installing your setup?

As I am going to have to machine down the I.D of this Spacer, for it to work properly. If I do not, then I will have a bottleneck here, as the airflow will hit this raised barrier and cause a little turbulence issue, rather than a straight clean airflow flowing down across the rotors.

It may take all of 5 minutes to outline the extra phenolic material then carefully, using a die grinder, removing the excess material.

A sanding wheel buzzes right through that stuff.

I've got the C& L Plenum with the phenolic spacer (previously had installed from JDM) and when I installed the C & L plenum - the spacer seemed to line up fine.

That is probably what we will do before installing it, as there is an 1/8th of an inch of material on the inside ventura area , not exactly macthing up. Thanks.

Robert, when you installed your setup, did you have to rebend the EGR tube to fit properly with the Plenum now being 1/2 inch higher than stock configuration with the spacer??

If you grind or sand on the phenolic material, PLEASE wear a respirator and some closed goggles. Phenolics are carcinogenic. Breathing the dust is not good.

I took the easy way out when I got my spacer from JDM. I also ordered a "bent" EGR valve tube from them - fit perfect! From what I've seen on here though, most guys seemed to say that it wasn't hard to bend your current one to fit.

Robert, thank you for the info, as we will try to install this setup this weekend and get back to you.
