Calling Johnny Lightning Performance..

..just thought I'd let you know that the bracket you guys send for holding the flywheel when installing a pulley works absolutely perfect for holding the waterpump pulley in order to remove the fan. If you look on a truck with a pulley installed (not the factory setup) you will see what I mean.

You're very welcome. I designed that tool back in 99 . Should have patented it, but oh well.

How did the install of the electric fans go when u finaly got the clutch off. I loved my flex-a-lites on my 97 and i took them back off before it traded them in. I might put them on the L but worried bout how strong the bracket they send with the kit is that holds the intercooler reservior. Let me know how urs goes.

So far it's doing good. Only thing I questioned is that each fan is rated at 1250cfm thus a total of 2500cfm and I wasn't sure if it would be enough to cool the engine but the gauge stays right where it used to before the install, unless the gauges aren't accurate like the FBody cars?? I'll get pics soon after I get a new digi cam. Total expenses out of pocket was $120

Somehow I don't think that you could have gotten a patent aproved for that. I used something very similiar years ago. Plus it would have cost $3,000 to $4,000 to get a patent. Since there is no patent on it, you could still try to get one if you think that that would be the most profitable route for you. Either way it's hard to sell pulley's if you can't install them. If you were the first then hat's off to you.

Hey, I'm pretty proud of that little tool, I think it's one of my coolest inventions. Ford had a tool to lock the motor for the Lightning; it involved pulling the starter and putting a dummy toothed tool in place. It was a major PITA. When I designed the cageless lower pulley, it was a bear getting the stocker off my 99. When I did the first install of our pulley on a customer truck, I spent about a half day making up all sorts of different tools to lock the motor without pulling that damn starter.

You are gonna sit here and tell people that YOU DESIGNED the cageless lower crank pulley? Wow, its getting deep in here. There were companies making crank pulleys for vehicles before you and I were even born Sal. Gimme a break.

No Joe, I didn't design the cageless lower pulley concept , that's been used forever in the aftermarket world. What I did, was decide to replace the factory 11lb setup with a lightweight cageless style, direct bolt on pulley. I had one of the first Gen 2s, and since no pulley manufacturers were making anything yet, and there were no other Lightning vendors in 99, I came up with the idea. I then contacted Lee at ASP, sent him some factory Lightning parts to work off of and the basic idea on paper, and he turned it into our original PSP Lightning pulleys. As a matter of fact, if you look at the part number for the 4lb ASP pulley, it ends in "PS"; that stands for Power Surge, because while he started selling the 2lb version to others, the 4lb was strictly for us at the time.

You new guys really should brush up on your Lightning history .

I got your new guy, hangin right here.

The cageless crank pulley was created by ASP. You merely supplied them the stock piece to spec off of.

I think I am gonna take credit for designing the the short radio antenna on my truck. Its the same theory, I took the existing piece, made a new one, and installed it. Sure other people have made these before, but mine was different, and I put a JM on the end of the SKU #.

Oh, and you should stop whorin around in other peoples threads, it was directed to JLP not Sal.
