bye bye lightning hello cobra

well I had to do it. My wife and I car pool (she can no longer drive) and we only had the L as a daily driver. Needless to say it was getting kinda cramped. So I found a smoking deal a brand new 2004 cobra and had to do it. Just had to say goodbye to the L.

It was fun while it lasted.

well congrats on the Cobra, sorry to hear u lose the L. But i dont see how the Cobra is more roomy than the L if only two passengers. Either way, sick car.

There is no way the L has less room up front than the cobra.

How about giving us the real reason. BTW congrats on the new car.

Ding Ding ROUND 1.

Congrats on the new Cobra, I can't blame you for doing something that I would do in the same situation.

keep us posted as the modifications progress

I'd like to start out by saying I'm sorry to hear that your wife can't drive. I know I would be devistated and I'm sure she is as well. Is this a permenant situation? I was born legally blind and told my whole life that I would never be able to drive. Well I wasn't going to have any part of that. Turns out that DMV has special provisions in certain cases. Mine happened to fit one of those cases. I've been driving since 1976 and dread the day that I may too loose my license. The situation has me really concerned about relocating to any other state. I don't want to move and find out that I wont be able to drive. (No tickets or accidents by the way)

I must say I'm confussed like some of the others. The L has way more room for both driver and passenger than a Cobra does. Do you have kids that you need to transport as well? Does the wife require medical equipment that must sit in the back seat? I think the room statement just has people confused.

Good luck, the Cobra is certainly an awesome car.

some of you guys are brutal
I need the back seat as opposed to the 2 passenger only situation in the L. I will admit that front passenger room is more cramped in the cobra, but I have a back seat for cargo and a trunk. I can't tell you how many times I have had to fish around in the back for groceries.

Basically it came down to the following, more room (for passengers), lower cost (I paid 29.9K for an 04 cobra) better interest rate on the cobra, lower payments, better gas mileage, significantly faster, mod friendly.

I have had 2 L's and had problems with both. I love the truck, but the weak motor, constant front end problems, and my day 1 brake issues with my '02 pushed me over the edge.

mat man,
my wife is a diabetic and has lost her vision due to diabetic rhetinopathy (SP?). She still has one eye that is correctable to 20/70, but only has 20% field of vision. Which means she cannot drive, no depth perception, no field of vision.

Mike, haven't run into you around Randall's etc. in a long time, but wanted to say
I'm real sorry to hear the circumstance with your wife. No doubt you did the right thing. Her being diabetic and losing her vision is sad, but she has you and that's the main thing.

Hopefully we will see you around. By the way there is a new shop in Webster doing the Cobra stuff called PSI.

Regards,

howdy john, have not been to Randall's in a while. We moved to an apartment off Post Oak for about a year and then finally bought a house in Pearland (shadow creek ranch). Which incidently I have seen a red and a black L in the neighborhood, but have not met the owners yet.

Hope to see you around.

I've had two L's and an 03 Cobra. I like them equally well. The objective is power! Enjoy the Cobra and visit http://www.modularfords.com for good Cobra tech and all the drama that goes along with the forums.

Man that really sucks. I was born with 20/400 vision and was correctable to 20/100. Got hard contacts when I was 18 and that got me to 20/70 which was the minimum to get a CA drivers license. I was restricted to daylight driving only, but when you've been told your whole life you'll never drvie I was stoked. I had Lasic surgery done in 1998 and now have 20/50 -2 vision. Just had my eyes checked early this month and no changes since 98.

Good luck and give your wife my best.
