Plasma Booster...Rob_02

I noticed that you are running to Plasma booster in your L...any problems with it? Does it seem like it really helps? I have one I was going to install but several other folks said you really don't need it with the stock spark being so hot.
Anybody else running the Plasma Booster?

Ignition Solutions is still pumping out PLENTY of Plasma Boosters
2003 - 1997 F150/Lightning V8 5.4 Coil-Over Plug Booster
PB-8130-02 $299.50

Is it a HP adder --> "NO" <--
But for me, I think it's a key element in my set up
What takes heat out of a cylinder ?
What makes a better stronger more efficient burn ?
What gives you a better idle and start up's ?
What allows you to run a Larger Gap ?
SPARK, SPARK, AND MORE SPARK
For me and my theory of lots of Boost, Lots of Timing
and Lots of Fuel, along with Lots of Nitrous,
this Mod seems to make it all run FLAWLESS
I hear so many people running nitrous or big boost talk of misfires, burnt plugs, spuddering going down the track,
Spark Blow Out, etc...
I HAVE NONE OF THAT and I run 2 Zones Colder Plugs,
I gap at .038-.040, I have well over 15lbs of Boost, and my
lowest Chip Program is 19 Degrees. I drive the street 24/7
with more timing than that. So for me and my set up,
I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS AND THINK IT PLAYS A KEY PART
BTW
The same plugs have been in my Truck since the Summer of 02

Have the plugs been inspected since the summer of 02 or does boosting the plasma counteract the ill effects of spraying the shizznit out of them?
Well thanks for the great info Rob....as always you have given plenty of insite to this crazy world of Lightnings...LOL I look forward to having the plasma booster installed along with the racetested 150i and minimax controller nos set-up!

QUESTION???
1.Will boost-a-spark let me run wider gap with alot of boost?
2. Will wider gap give me better power/smoother etc?
17-19psi KB heads & cams

I can tell you my set up (Ignition Solution) you can run
up to 1.00 Gap "trouble free"
YES larger Gap IS ALWAYS BETTER and gives you MORE POWER
People make them smaller BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO
"NOT because they want to"
(to prevent "Spark Blow Out" w/Stock Ignition when running
A LOT of Boost or Power)
The articles you read on the Plasma Booster or other
Multi Spark Ignitions will highlight a few VERY IMPORTANT area's
Better Idle
Better MORE EFFICIENT Burn
NO MISFIRES at hi RPM or hi Boost Levels
and Dyno's will show faster build up to Max Tq + Power
(On a S/C or Turbo there is sometimes 10-15 HP extra too)
I have to assume the KB Boost-A-Spark will do the same ?
To me it's just "part of" the many pieces of "my puzzle" that
allow me to run cooler plugs, super fat a/f, bigger gap, and
yet still have an awesome idle and a hi rpm trouble free running Lightning. (and for Nitrous, more spark will help burn all that Fuel I throw at it, and also dissipate more heat in the cylinders)
For years people have laughed at this Mod
But I like it...............

I have an '01 bought new. At 18,500 miles I installed NGK BR7EFs gapped at 0.040". I was adding a 5 lb pulley.
At 40,900 miles, I installed my Plasma Booster(connected near the plugs).
At 42,500 miles, it dynoed 401.9/502.1.
At 43,100 miles, I ran my still best 1/4: 1.782/12.531/108.69.
Now it has 76,100 miles on it. I run it at 75-85 MPH to and from work mixed in with some around-town creeping. It get's 14-15 MPG.
Those same plugs are still in it.
I'll save you the calculation; that's 57,600 miles ago.
Rob02 is my hero.
The facts man, just the facts
