Plasma Booster Install
Plasma Booster Install
After going over AZBLACKMONSOON and Ken800's install steps I began to use a continuity tester to find the correct wire at the wiring harness. Needless to say, I became rather frustrated after finding only 2 or so correct wires. Plus, I could tell my hands were NOT going to fit back to that rear passenger coil. I decided to find another way. I figured that somewhere there had to be a wiring diagram I could follow to find out the proper wires to tap without having to do a continuity test for EVERY wire.
SO
After about 30 minutes of searching on the internet I remembered that our campus Body shop has a shop manual for the F150s. 5 minutes later I'm looking around trying to find the proper diagrams. I FINALLY DID.
Here are my UNTESTED results. (FOR A 2000 MODEL)
COIL ON PLUG#1 - wire #1024, Light Green/White Stripe, #26 pin on bottom harness
COIL ON PLUG#2 - wire #1026, Pink/White Stripe, #41 pin on bottom harness
COIL ON PLUG#3 - wire #1028, White/Pink Stripe, #32 pin on bottom harness
COIL ON PLUG#4 - wire #1030, Dark Green/Violet Stripe, #3 pin on top harness
COIL ON PLUG#5 - wire #1021, Light Green/Yellow Stripe, #2 pin on top harness
COIL ON PLUG#6 - wire #1025, Orange/Yellow Stripe, #1 pin on top harness
COIL ON PLUG#7 - wire #1027, Pink/Light Blue Stripe, #33 pin on bottom harness
COIL ON PLUG#8 - wire #1029, White/Red Stripe, #4 pin pin top harness
Again, I have only connected this up on my truck and made sure the lights on the unit have turned on, I have not turned the car on and driven to make sure it is correct. I trust the shop manual is correct. This was looked up as a 2000, so I can't be sure of different model year's color coding being the same.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! (but it should work)
Hope someone finds this useful.
Thanks to Mark at LFP for hooking my up with this unit in such a timely manner. MARK ROCKS!!
Later guys.

Those colors sound the same as what I tapped. The challenge is identifying the white with red vs. gray with red and orange with white vs. orange with yellow and so on. I finally bought a halogen bulb for my shop light (pure white light) instead of the silly yellow bulb and the colors are MUCH more discernable.
Did you pull the coil pack connectors and stick a paperclip in there? My continuity tester was an alligator clip on one end (attached to paperclip) and a probe on the other. It was pretty easy once I got into the swing of things.

Yeah, I was doing that. Because I have big 'ol hands and clumsy fingers, I had a hard time with, oh, about 6 of em. So I tried another route.
It is good to hear that you think those sounded right. I included the pin #s to use in conjunction with the colors as to not be confused.
I can't wait till the snow is gone to test it out!!
