Traded in the L
Traded in the L
Well it has been almost 3 years and I loved every minute, but with winter coming up I got rid of her. I went to carmax and traded on a 2002 Tahoe. Thank you for all of the info/fun over th last few years. Don't worry the Tahoe won't be stock for long!
Yeah having a L as your only vehicle in the Chicago sub's during the winter sucks guys..trust me..i used ot live about 10 mins from Jred...The long winter gets even longer in something not 4wd/AWD. I would like to see you in a Expedition...but to each his own...lol.

Welcome to GM's world of electronic babysitting. The GM philosophy is that their vehicles know more about your driving than you do. I had a 2002 Envoy and grew weary of it changing the eqaulization, turning on the "Safety Sam" daytime running lights and dimming the mirror when I wanted to see who was behind me. The logic of the self locking doors, no matter how you programmed them and the self changing "We may be on the freeway, but I think it is time for four wheel low" module was more than I could deal with. Three four wheel drive modules and two body computers still could not fix it. Wait until you go to upgrade the tunes and find that the original head unit has to remain in the vehicle to handle things like engine warnings and the ever so delightful OnStar - "Oh dear, we hit a tree, but don't worry, big brother knows right where we are". GM's electronics people were responsible for the programing formats of the early VCRs and they've never learned any better. I had the vehicle 5 months and hated it more each day. I hope you are more tolerant of Big Brother than I am. OnStar tracks your every move and can shut the vehicle down if they want to. No vehicle needs (or should have) a class II data cable between the radio and the body computer.
Good luck with the new vehicle.
In all seriousness though, I'm wondering if really you needed a vehicle with more seating room. That I could understand. Honestly, I live up here in Canada and and our winters can get much worse then they are in your area. I had my 99 bolt and drove it through a couple of winters and my 03 will be going through a few more. A good set of snow tires and a nice clinging underbody oil spray and one is good to go without any problems.

Seating room was a factor. No problem with Carmax. My experience could not have been better. My payment is $5 less than the L for a loaded Tahoe with under 30,000 miles. Not bad in my book. As for problems with Chevy electronics, time will tell. Lightning owners do have their fair share of problems however. They are just willing to tolerate them for the love of the trucks. Not that bad in winter? Yea right. Spoken like a true L fanatic.
Nah, I could understand, here, atleast on the northeast, having a daily-driver Lightning as your ONLY car would be pretty rough in the winter.
I drove mine *once* in the snow, then I bought another car.
...thats besides the tremendous amount of guilt and anguish you get knowing you are driving on roads that were SALTED.
Now my truck seens no snow and never has seen road-salt again!
