Red Line Oil now has 5W20!
Red Line Oil now has 5W20!
I was just at Advanced Auto Parts looking for oil to do an oil change on the L this weekend.....and low and behold I came across Red Line's new 5W20!
I use Red Line in my motorcycle and it's great stuff! And now they make oil for my truck too.

Well, I've been using their 5W30 full synthetic for a few months now. I'm not too sure about the thinner stuff. I guess if you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

Not to disagree but just fyi .I was just at nmra finals and have been considering other oils.I run mobil1 but read about redline oil it stated it doesn't contain nearly enough detergents for every day use on the streets but suggest track only use. This is from redline themselves.Just trying to help.
Track use only?
Well, the Red Line 5W30 full synthetic high performance oil that I've been using for a while says nothing about "track use only" on the bottle. It does say that it's great for turbo and supercharged engines and that's why I tried it and as it turns out, like it. The track use only might be their "race" oil. That is a completely different version of their brand.

Yep, he's got to be referring to the "race" line of oil they make. I was actually on the phone earlier talking with one of the Techs at Red Line (very knowledgable dude!). He said the 5W20 was made because of Ford's recommendation (and some other manufacturers) for it in their newer vehicles. The regular line of Red Line oil is highly recommended for everyday use (and extended change intervals). So, it won't harm your daily driver. Although, this stuff is not cheap, it comes in at over $7 a quart. But, since I don't drive my L everyday, like some, I don't mind paying the extra $$$ for the good stuff!

EXACTLY !!!!!
Just curious. Where does the point of diminishing returns come into the equation on motor oil. We all have options from $.99 a quart dino oil up to $7 a quart Red Line (and others). Personally, I run 5w30 Mobil 1 Synthetic in my '01 daily driver Screw (around $4 a quart) because I did a lot of research and Mobil 1 appears to be a very good product at a decent price point. How much better could a $7 a quart product be? Almost twice as good? Does that mean my engine would wear almost half as much with the $7 a quart product as with the $4 a quart product?
Not trying to fuel a flame war here, just trying to put into perspective this whole oil comparison thing.
