Powder Coated Power Plenum (Pics) thanks LFP!!!

Well, my powder coated power plenum came in today from Mark at LFP.... Man he is the best when it comes to service and help...

Well I went out and installed it today and it really wasn't bad at all... Would have been better if I had a deep socket 10 mm, but hey, I made it work... Mark's powder coating looks great and the best thing is no work to the cast had to be performed to make it look great... Well it went smooth except for a brain fart in which i snapped off a 10mm throttle body and braket bolt off, but that is a whole nother story...

I was not able to get my tune in today, but I hope to get one in soon... Right now I just have an extreme safe tune from Ed Clark and True Blue because of a lean issue I had in the past... They mailed me the chip out of an emergency to get me out of danger, I will get the new tune as soon as possible....

I then went and did some runs with my WBC and my a/f was 11.7-11.9, so I am safe until I can get a dyno tune.

I installed and e-fan and upper plenum this week and I can really tell a difference, two great mods...

no offense intended towards you 35th, or mark at LFP, or anybody at C&L for that matter, but as I said before the casting quality on this new part looks extremely POOR.

the think looks like it's made out of silly putty, only worse.

at the least, it needs to be sanded smooth before powdercoating.

but the part isn't for looks, it's for HP, so if it delivers in that department, then the rest can sortof be forgiven.

just my .02 take it with as many grains of salt as you wish.

later,
chris

It actually has very few pits in it at all... It looks really smooth on the truck... Some times digital photographs will show more changes in color because it picks up all the contrasts. It is actually a higher quality aluminum than what ford uses on there stock unit... If you wanted to take the time and smooth it out, you can, but I wanted to show the unit looks great with no other prep work...

Looks like it could use a nice coat of wrinkle paint and a trip to the oven, instead of powder coating. It would hide some of the imperfections better. It's a little too rough looking for my tastes. If there is enough of a performance improvement over the Extrude honed plenums, some VHT black wrinkle coat will be on my list for pre-installation prep.

Is your testing going to be done with the stock throttle body?
