I don't have one on order. But it certainly looks interesting. Any idea on a price?

There is probably a substantial amount of money to be saved by deleting the intercooler that comes with the kit.

That price also must include headers ($1,000).

So, if the intercooler delete is $500, and subtracting the cost of the headers (assuming that you would otherwise be buying a set), that gets us down to a net cost of $1,500-2,000 plus a turbo.

Power level changes are a snap with a turbo -- get a bigger turbo and/or adjust the waste gate. One strategy for good low-end boost is to run a big turbo and bleed off the boost as RPMs rise.

And you can run a pretty wide-open exhaust without excessive noise levels.

I would love to see some more info on this kit.

delete headers?

Umm... you can't really delete the headers (unless you have a set of turbo headers around already?)

Aren't the headers pretty much to most important part of a turbo system (besides the turbo of course)

I think what Tim was trying to say was most Lightning owners who purchase headers will spend approximately $1000 on them. They come included in the turbo kit. So pay $1000 for the headers then tack on additional $3000 for a Kenne Bell you have $4000 spent when you could have paid $3500 for a turbo kit which included turbo headers then add an extra $1500 for a decent turbo for a grand total of $5000. That isn't much more than the KB and headers and you can make a lot more power with a turbo.

You probably dont want to do a header delete. The popular long tubes for the lightning wouldn't likely be ideal for a turbo motor. In many cases with a turbo you want shorter headers to locate the turbo closer to the heads so that you can preserve heat and velocity entering the turbo. Of course, I dont know what kind of flexibility you have for locating the turbo given our engine's position so far back in the engine bay.

*edit*

I think i just said the same thing as easter

Would that kit with a T76 be safe with a Predator tune, or do ya think a custom tune would be needed?

I'm totally stock for at least another year...someone needs to try this thing out. When I finally start modding I want to skip all the dud mods and go straight to the good stuff.

The Car below has a Pro Turbo Kit on it The Air to Air intercooler with stock air to water intercooler and ice water running thru Air to water is a killer combo. A T76 is prolly way more than you want on a Street Driven Lightning, A T62 will make way more power than 90% of the people on this board need or want.

Paul Duckett in Poplar Bluff, Mo, has a gen 2 with a twin turbo smallblock, but its DART based and not a mod motor. The bed was replaced with a lightweight fiberglass unit and the front sheetmetal is now carbon fiber, plus its on a full chrome moly tube chassis. I think the doors are also fiberglass now. Its got a 5-speed Lenco with a 3 disk clutch, and should run in the low 7's/high 6's in NHRA Top Sportsman trim. He'll be taking the title away from Jason Brown's blown alcohol gen 1 of worlds fastest Lightning this year, for sure. Duckett's gen 2 makes all the 10 second 'race trucks' seem like kittens. I think its also Pro 5.0 legal, other than not being a mustang.

Actually you are confused. What easter said was what I said, which was 180 degrees from what you said. Or something.

I am not suggesting deleting the turbo headers -- that would be impossible. It's just that the headers (a $1K value) are included already in the turbo kit, so that's almost like getting $1K off.
