Convertor install problem

And yes im a newbie, im a welder not a transmission mechanic. I dont know much about the inside of a convertor. Thats why I want to make sure I do it right the "first" time.

If it's an after market cover, well, it might be better and may hold up fine. The stock ones are welded first and then machined precisly because the heat can distort the machined surface of the clutch facing, I was just offereing the suggestion. It is pretty critical not to distort it, though. But if it's aftermarket, is there a reason you're not trying to get it replaced under warranty?

I was told it has a steel hub. And as to what I see it its much thicker and stronger than the stock one. I can get a new one, the guy I bought it from already offered it. But I think if I weld them they will be stronger. Thanks for your help Gregg the newbie thing came from some one else.
