Lugnut help please!

I tell you it is a pain in the a** trying to find 20 chrome lugs for the new wheels. I bought the 99 style chrome L wheels that I want to get on my 03 L ASAP but I want to get chrome ones. I can find 14mm acorn style but was going to go with the snubs like I currently have. What kind are you guys using for replacements? The 1 1/2" acorns look like they will stick out to far. Do they work or do you stick with 14mm 1 1/2" snubs(flat bottom) I feel goofy asking but damn these four packs of lugs suck since there seems to only be like one or two packs on the shelves at any one time. Not going to cut it. Or is there a vendor that has the chrome plated ones like stock around? Im getting ready just to put on the new ones with the current lugs until I can find some at this point. Finding shorter chrome valve stems dont seem to be a problem. Thanks all.
Peace out!

am I understanding you correctly when you say that you are wanting to use Acorn lugnuts on a standard Lightning wheel???

unless you know something that I don't, this is a BAD IDEA.

what happened to your stock lugnuts? they are already chrome and properly sized?

just curious.

later,
chris

I wouldn't use acorn style lugnuts. You need flat bottom ones. Your stock ones should work fine. Aren't they chrome already. I bought chrome '00 wheels fron FRPP for my truck and used my "stock" chrome lug nuts. Maybe the '03's don't come with chrome lugs????

you're gonna have to get them from Ford or on Ebay I think.. Ford gets large $$$$ for them............

The stock lugs are designed with a flat washer for a reason. Acorn style lugs are used on wheels with beveled holes. The amount of mating surface that an acorn lug would have on a flat rim like the stock ones would be TINY - I would not want to ride in that truck...

Use the ones you have - They are chrome

If you MUST get new ones Tirerack.com has them ( or did 3 years ago when I bought my rims there )

Or go to a ford outlet like fordpartsonline.com

Im retarded never mind question

I went to the shop tonight to see how the owrk on my truck was coming and you are all right the stock lugs are chrome and WILL be used with the chrome wheels. Yes acorn is bad got it,stock lugs good. My bad, disregard this question.
I must say though I love the sound of my new exhaust. The boys fired it up and it sounds sweeeet. I went with the whole deal headers, mids, catback and the tips look mucho better then stock also. Can't wait to getter done.
Later boys.

I thought the 99's had smaller studs, and thus the 99 wheels would not fit on 02 and new trucks???

99's do have smaller (12mm) studs however 99 wheels DO fit trucks with 14mm studs without modification to the wheel.

You are right about that because before I bought the 99 replicas I made sure the sizes match and they did to a T for my 03.
BTW they were advertised with 14mm studs also.
