"Blown motor pics"

Well I blew the motor back in June. My new one will be ready here in a couple weeks so I decided to pull the motor and take some pics of the damage.

If you had to guess the cause (besides marginal rods) of why it blew, what would it be (downshift, winter air, etc.)?

What mods were done at that time?

I posted about it happening in mid June. Anyway it was on a nitrous run. I made the mistake of using nitrous on a street tune. Now I have to pay for a new motor.

Mods:4#lower
apten ported blower
2.7 upper
LT headers
NX wet kit 50 shot
accufab TB
FTVB
and all the other little mods

Rich,

May I ask what kind of motor are you getting?

Ever think about bringing the beast down to Mountain Park Dragway (down in Ky.) again?

Hope all goes well with the new motor!

I am getting a built motor from Md motorsports / Apten and then I'm getting her dyno tuned with the new SCT software. It will have billet forged rods, new crank, CNC ported heads, stage 2 cams, all the good stuff. As for coming back to KY I'd love to come back down to Ky. for a race or 2. Its been a while since I have seen any of you guys. We will have to get together again sometime.

Rich,
Sounds like you are getting an awesome motor, I hope it works out great for you. We'd love to see you down here in Ky when you get the new motor running. Keep us updated on your progress, I'm curious to see how it goes.

I know there are forged steel rods and 4340 billet rods available for modulars.

I had seen forged billet with Bill Miller Engineering and their top fuel and funnycar rods but that is a totally different world from a building a strong lightning motor. These are aluminum rods too.

Can you forge billet steel?
