Ordered a FTVB

Well I could not take it anymore. I have read MANY threads the past month and a half I have been on this site about how a FTVB is one of the BEST MODS you can have, get it,love it,experiance it. How can I argue with all that as well as keeping my trans happy in the long run.

Of course I had to support our friends at Chickenars and go with the FTVB w/4x4 trans pan(love the drain plug to). Can't wait to get it(hopefully this week)and feel the shifts between 1/2 I read so much about about.

How much extra trans fluid am I going to add with the 4x4 pan?

Anything else I should know before I get it?

Well just wanted to share since Im pumped about it and everyone seems to love theres.

Later boys.

Re: Ordered a FTVB

You'll need about 8 qts. Make sure you read http://www.chikenearsengineering.com...ission_faq.htm and get the right type.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is an FTVB? Is it some sort of shift kit? I just bought a used 03 Lightning recently and it "farts" when shifting. Will the FTVB cure this?

Any other shift kits out there for the Lightning?

Getting a chip with torque reduction turned off cures the fart sound when shifting, the ftvb will not cure this. The ftvb stands for Factory Tech Valve Body, and is basically like a shift kit for L's.

BTW: You lay a nice patch of rubber from 1st to 2nd shift with the FTVB.

I also got a FTVB from Tim at Chickenars Eng just this week. He he a great person to deal with. He went beyond the call of duty to get my ftvb to me as soon as possible. Thanks Tim and Gregg Evans for great services and great products.

I just got installed it yesterday but I haven't had a chance to test it out.

It been rainning.

So far all I been getting is a crisp and fast shift on the rain.... can't wait to let my beast lose from a dead stop and from a roll at 20 mph.

When you get her out there and really give the FTVB a good run drop me a line and tell me what you think since you JUST got yours. Did you install yourself or a shop? Curious about install price. Take care.
Russ.

Well I would do a search for torque reduction. Everybody has different views, some say leave it on, some say turn it off, and some leave it partially turned on. Gregg evans says to leave it on. But do a search and come to your own conclusion.

I had my trannie flushed, new filter, new trannie oil all plus the ftvb installed for $120.

If you have a floor jack and some jack stands you can easily do it yourself. It's not a hard install at all. It took me about 30 minutes start to finish. Just make sure you have a big drain pan to get all the old trany fluid into.

Very cool, that is cheaper then I was guessing. If I can get that done in that $ range I will be happy. Thanks.
