Gtech pro problems
Gtech pro problems
Anyone have problems wth the windsield mount? Mine worked great for about 4 months, then it started falling off. I cleaned the w/s and the suction cup. If anyone has a suggesion on where to mount the permanant mount bracket, let me know. Thanks,

sorry do not have an answer for you on were to mount, but I would stick it down in the corner by the windshield on the drivers side right on top of the dash.
you can get new suction cups at probably home depot or a hobby store.
have you taken that thing to the track and how does it compare to the track slips?

It's close, you just have to take your time and set it up correctly.
There like 3 different starting mods that can effect final results if there not set correct.
I personal like the mod where you just go and it does the rest, no waiting for lights to change or dealing with reaction time.

Mine is pretty accurate. It was 1 mph off and .03 off on my last run. Like Tamap said, it has to be set up correctly though. My last run was the only time I compared it w/slips, so I don't have consecutive copmarisons.

Speed on gtech was 104 in the 1/4, and time was 13.1. It seemed to be off a couple of tenths. Speed was off a little too, but I wasn't using the pro tree option, I just staged with no roll out or tree.
Screw the window mount (too hard to adjust for graded surface anyway). I put velcro on the lid to my cupholder, as it's a nice flat surface to mount the unit that's also close to the lighter/power point too. When not being used, all you see is a small piece of soft black velcro tape on top of the lid (if you leave the cupholder open).
13.4 Grimace??? When did you run??? My last run was 13.9 and I was pulling you on the highway....
My best time on my buddys G-tech pro was 13.7 @ 101
And we too have the same problem with the thing staying in the window....

hehe.
I found a new spot for the Gtech to mount. Here are some pics.

And:

I went ahead and hard mounted it to the A-pillar, and ran the wires down the door frame under the seal. Has anyone hard wired a gtech instead of the cig lighter plug? I can make the install cleaner looking without the stupid plug.

Nice location, I was thinking if mine don't fit in the overhead console I was going to locate it around that area. Hardwiring is they way to go, I hate the stupid suction cup piece, I keep breakin mine. I really don't want the led lights to be visible to drivers behind me.. like cops, that would be hard to explain after they pull you over for speeding.
Funny you mention getting pulled over. I got pulled over and asked what type of detector it was. I said it's not a detector, it is a quarter mile in a box. He had a blank look as he said move along now.
