supercharger pulley

Im considering buying a pulley to add 8 lbs to my 02 lightning. I need to know if there is anything I need to do besides the gauge and belt change. Will it do any damage doubling the boost? Will I need to do any other mods to make my truck handle it as far as air, fuel, etc. Any help would be welcome. Thanks

8lbs is too much

overworking the eaton=more heat=less hp

go with a 4lber, get a chip reburn for the computer to see the pulley and compensate the air/fuel ratio for it

no chip with a 4lber, your going to blow the engine

False.

My friend has been running a 4lber for over 2 years now with no chip. Of course the performance isn't anywhere near what it would be with a chip. But I'm not sure he cares because he didn't put a window in his block yet.

What are you referring to about putting a window in his block?

I'm gonna have to agree with Grandmastr...

Although it might be possible to run a 4# with no chip reburn, it is by no means safe to do so. You do risk the chance of throwing a rod, and the money for a chip reburn now, is ALOT less than the money for a short block later.

How much hp will it add with the 4lb and the chip? I need the max I can get. Have someone running their mouth. They made a comment about giving me a 5 car start and it pissed me off!

I say go ahead with the 8lber and no chip on your stock long block.

that way, at least when you do race 'em, as they are passing you your engine will be exploding and maybe they'll get hit by a piece of one of your connecting rods.

if you wound 'em badly enough maybe after the race they won't run their mouth about beating you.

(just kidding)

good luck.

later,
chris

whats more important winning or loosing a race or spending 10 grad for a new motor. i have a single chip 4lb pulley cold air with slicks and i just ran two consistant 12.71 at 106. 8lb pulley is WAY to much. If you want a eight pound pulley put out 10 grand for a new built motor first and then put that eight pounder on.

The only other Lightning owner in town, ran a 8lb lower pulley and a smaller upper pulley. All of this with the Predator 4lb pulley tune. His motor lasted about 2 1/2 weeks. He's not sure what's wrong yet. The motor has a big miss from idle to 3000rpms. He changed the stock plugs, which were fried. But it still has a bad miss. It's at the local SVT dealership getting looked at. He thinks it might have a burnt valve??
