What kind of hp/tq differences ru seeing on flipchips?

I have a dual program flipchip with JDM's most popular tune. I only saw a 8/10 hp/tq difference between the 93 octane Side I and 50/50 93 / 104 octane Side II.

Normal?

Oh yeah..I dynoed back in May and just got around to asking. Man, it's been a busy few months!!!

Those differences look about normal to what I've seen.

What were your hp/tq #'s?

Flip chip

Dan, this is not a flame, but I agree with you. I've only seen about 10 or 12 HP increase on the race side of a flip chip. Not putting them down, just seems like there's not enough UMF for all the hype of having an extra HIPO program. I might change over to an SCT Tuner, mostly because of what some of my fellow racers in my club have told me about them. In answer to your original question, yes, your numbers are about right. Good question BTW.

I don't even know how the thought came to me, but this morning it dawned on me to ask. Only took 5 months.

The problem with the SCT is that you have to buy it and the new chip. SCT + Chip = ~ $900. (I would anyway..my chip isn't compatible with it..the tuner can't reach certain Hex registers in it)

After having just spent the $500 on the dyno tune, I wasn't ready for spending more $$$.

pssssst Rob, I got my chip free.

Kinda..

paid for a PCM reflash and they talked me into another "race" program for $50 additional. He just put the chip in there, I said the tine is $50, whats the chip cost? He said it's included.

The only good thing Jerry did for me was the chip, not the tune.

Chip ?

Dan, unless I'm totally wrong, when you get a SCT 9100 Tuner, you lose the chip scene. Your tuner will program 2, or 3 tunes into the SCT. Then you OR your tuner will dump the info into your computer where it will stay WITHOUT a chip until you or your tuner change it to whatever you need. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm more than likely wrong then. I talked to Jim about it for a few minutes the day I was there and probably misinterpreted what he said. I had been there since 8am, it was close to 4pm, no breakfast, no lunch, I was ready to go.

But I DO THINK that someone I talked to about this said they had to buy a new chip. I don't know. I'm totally confused now.

I would go with the info you have......

well you can do both
either get a SCT tuner (much like the preditor) this cost something like 800 bucks and you should know how to tune
or get a new chip and have either a single program or 4 programs then you have to have to buy the chip and have it tuned.

The tuner device itself is around $400. If you want the package of tuner + software to do your own tuning, that is about $800.

here is my question:

How do you tune the race program?
think about it for a second. I had a street/race tune. He dyno tuned it on the street (93 octane), and then upped the timing alittle and said to run 100 octane for a race program.

but he never dynoed the "race" program.

Unless you get street tuned, and then come back with higher octane in there and then tune for the race program.

Isn't kinda a shot in the dark on the race tune, since it wasn't dyno tuned?
