Thumbs up New exhaust setup

I finally got my new exhaust installed today. I wish I had taken my camera with me, as it would have been easier to take pics with it on a lift.

Since I run race fuel in my truck at the track all the time, I kept blowing though cats. So this summer I removed the cats and just welded straight pipes in their place. Well with no cats and the 4x9 Magnaflows it was real real loud.

So I called Magnaflow and asked them if they had any mufflers that were a little quieter. They told me the 5x8's are a little bit quieter, so thats what I decided to do. Well since the magnaflow X pipe is 4 inches center to center I had to find someone to make me a custom X pipe. I looked and looked and only found one place that would do it for me, and that is Dr.Gas

I don't know if it the X Pipe the New wider mufflers or a combination of both, but the new system sounds so awesome. I tell you this is how a Lightning should sound. I will try to get it on a lift next week and take some better pics.

Here is the the Dr. Gas X pipe. It is 4 inches on center on the front side, and 5.5 inches on center in the rear, so it can acept the wide mufflers. I wish I had taken a picture of the inside, as it is totally different than the Magnaflow X Pipe.

Here is a view of the New 5x8 Magnaflows. We had to tilt the mufflers just a little bit so it would clear the heat shield. I could have had them modify the mid pipes, but that would have been a pain in the but.

I have new tips too

Now the truck is about as loud as it was when it had cats, but it is a deeper, smoother, and more powerfull sound, and none of the pulsation you heard with the Magnaflow X Pipe. It is much more of a Big Block kind of sound, which I think the X pipe has a lot to do with.

Don, how would you compare the sound to the 4.6 Cobras? I can't get over how great the deep exhaust sounds on them.
