This is the one the fordpartsonline is selling as the "original" factory cover. It is not the same as the one that comes as a factory option on the Lightnings (at least not on the '01). Look at the edges of the cover. it doesn't use the same thick fiberglass (plastic?) lip around the edges that you put in the channel and snap down (the same system that causes the real cover to curl at the back corners. Also, the one from fordpartsonline uses a much thinner and lighter frame and the cross-bars are U-shaped stamped metal instead of the spring-loaded tubes that came with the original cover.

The only reason I mentioned it in the first place is that I had a 2001 Lightning with the orginal cover and I liked it very much. So when I bought my '04 and it didn't have a cover, i ordered the fordpartsonline version thinking it would be the same cover. but it wasn't so I sent it back and got an Access cover instead. There was nothing really WRONG with the fordpartsonline version, it just wasn't has heavy-duty in my opinion.

But I got to say That I like this cover more then most of the other soft cover for the Lightnings. I don't like the snap look and some of the other ones flod up on the end. Here is a pic of mine.

Its the same one I have and I love it. I paid 327+tax from the dealer.
What does **** me off is that I found out it made buy LUND. It's there Genisis Seal and Peal model that can be bought for $260 from JC whitney. The only difference is that they sew on a lillte ford tag on the back right corner of the cover!! That's a $67.00 tag

I'd also like to know what you guys use to keep your soft covers looking good (other than armorall).
