I think I had some street action

One benefit to working late on weekends is that more people who are into racing are on the roads. I think...

I was on my way home a little while ago on RT 24 East. I see these blinding fog lights coming up on me in the left hand lane. This is right before 24 goes into RT 78. Guy comes by me in the left and it's a paper tagged Corvette. Not a Z06. I file in behind him after the lane merge and see that he's going onto the express lanes on 78 East. I follow relatively closely. We get to the point where traffic merges and I change lanes to my left into the center lane. I stayed back from him for about a 1/4 mi. then decided to match his speed because he was accellerating up to the 75+ range. CLEAR LANES AHEAD. He goes ahead and jumps on it for a brief second, so I match him. Didn't have to downshift so all he heard was exhaust (no blower). So we cruise along for another couple of seconds at the new rate...he accellerates again...so this time I just hammered it. Downshift, blower whine, he's on my right so he's hearing that and the exhaust..I stay in it. Put many many lengths on him. He obviously didn't make chase. He was messing around in the beginning but didn't follow through. Hence, the name of this thread.

So, FFW to when I get onto the Parkway. I pull through the Union Toll plaza heading South. Nothing out of the ordinary. I get to about exit 137 in Kenilworth and the gauntlet gets laid. I'm in the lane second from left. On my left I see a swarm of xenon lights fastly approaching. I think, "Hmmmm. Midnight. Saturday (Sunday really)..Nice weather. Xenon lights. Ricers". Sure enough this *** clown comes up on my left. He's revving the ***** out of his motor by the time he gets next to me and there is someone in front of him (left lane ****). So he edges past me in the left and goes just about a half car length past me. I knew what was coming next and sure enough. RIGHT TURN CLYDE. Right into my lane to get around left lane ****. BUT...he kinda cuts me off while doing so. Kinda pissed me off so I dropped the hammer. I caught up to him in about 5 seconds, commenced to pass him and put about 20 truck lengths on him and then slowed back down to 65 or so. About 30 seconds later, he redeems himself by pulling along side, beeping and giving thumbs up. Gave two beeps back and remained at 65 while he felt the need to continue on at a blistering pace and lead the rest of the posse, that obviously was trying to catch up the entire time.

Oh well. Kinda lame, but the most action I've seen in awhile.

Nice Dan ,
You got me all worked up, I'm ready to go wake the kid and take to open road

I think to date, THEE BEST TIME I've still ever had in the Lightning was crusing a hundred or two miles with other L's on open road to or from Cecil.
Back in Spring of 03 it was "Me", "Gator", "Pawn", and "The Captain" in (4) L's, and "V + Terri" in the Cobra (V's L was still getting Flamed) The most Illegal Fun I've ever had maybe....
At one point we came up on 2 or 3 Corvettes and swarmed them from every angle and they were like Yo man we don't want to race

This year it was Gator + Me, (a little fun with a Viper) and Big Daddy (Ray) for the ride home (THOSE BASTARDS TOOK A QUICK TURN OFF AT A FORK, LEFT ME STUCK BEHIND AN AMBULANCE, AND I SPEND MY SAT NIGHT TOURING PHILLY, AND DRIVING THROUGH 2 or 3 STATE'S I SHOULDN'T HAVE WITHOUT ANY BRAKES _@$^)@$%@)$@$+&$@+_$@&@_$&

RIDE ON DAN......................
There's nothing like some open road Fun

Dan, you need to get out more

Iam on six 12hrs days for the next two weeks. Maybe some sunday afternoon action at RJ's will help you out. Iam sure Dan and Paul will be up for it

Btw......Think the drives home will be as much fun in that 300 thingy

From: Colorado,
Great short story's. You guys should right a novel or something.

I am always to chicken to have much fun that lasts for more than a short burst or keeping it going after a pass.

Seems like the cops are to thick out here. We have a lot of open roads and a lot of neat canyons but the ratio of cops seems very high and there isn't many chances to hide in traffic or bail out into populated area's at the next exit.

Some of the towns are doing those intersection photo camera's and mailing tickets. Lot's of unmarked cars on the interstates at all hours.

I suppose a detector would help but I can't take a chance since I drive a service truck for a living and need a clean record.

Sure sounds like you guys have some fun times out east though.

weekend work = sucks. I'm salaried (I get comp time but I prefer to be off on the weekend when people are around)

RJ's = yes

300C SRT8 + as much fun = doubt it. animal of a differnt kind.

Rob..Great stories.
