Drove an SRT-10 the other day
I dynoed my truck the other day with a friend who was dynoing his Camaro. He had a friend meet him to watch. Had a new SRT-10. He asked me if I wanted to drive it, so what the heck.
Overall, it was pretty much as I expected. Truck interior is very comfortable and overall it's a very nice truck. I was disappointed in the performance though. It has been a while since mine was stock so that may have been part of it. But it just didn't seem like 500 HP. The shifter is okay but could be tough to shift very fast. Pulled fairly well in the upper rpms but just seemed flat to me.
I thanked him for letting me drive the truck and asked if he'd driven a Lightning before. I was going to let him drive mine but he didn't seem interested. He was telling me about the cost and (lack of) mods for these trucks. A computer programmer for these is $1K!
Tried to get him on the dyno but he wasn't going for it.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted some information about the SRT-10s that I thought LIGHTNING OWNERS would be interested in and it got swiftly moved. Of course nobody in General Discussion was remotely interested in the information, so I will copy it here again for those who may be.
quote "The lots around DFW are starting to display more of the SRT-10s. I looked one over and saw a couple of neat features. First of all, I'm jealous of the huge engine bay with wide open plugs....ha ha. The rear leaf springs are enormous and the lowest one is this sort of front half only looking traction device with a snubber....seemed interesting. It also has a aluminum finned rear end cover with fill and drain plugs. I read various opinions on the clutch pedal and shifter feel, but they felt nice and firm, similar to a 70s muscle car. It has a nice set of pedals and their adjustable. It has an electric fan and comes with a factory fill of Mobil1 10W30. The hood scoop has holes in it, but looks as though it would mainly let water pour on the engine since it has a separate sealed air box. It has adjustable camber on the upper control arms and stick on wheel weights. The V-10 exhaust is not a low rumble, but more of a higher tinny rice-type sound. The bed spoiler doesn't pop off, but required unbolting to be removed and it didn't have a tailgate lock. Overall, it seemed to be a nice attempt coming from Dodge. They were asking sticker price only at first asking, so I know negotiation could strike a lower price. That's a far cry from the BS ebay sales for the first ones. Anyway, I thought someone might be interested in the competition."
