ported blower and spacer
ported blower and spacer
pulled the blower today to take advantage of the apten deal for the month of spetember. im just trying to think of some other mods i could do while the blowers off and the truck is sitting.i was leanign towards a phenolic spacer. who sells them?? is it worth the money?? and also will i have to port that also to match the ported blower?? another thing that i was considering was brisk plugs because of the hp gain ive seen. im currently running denso it22s do you think its worth it or should i stay with densos. finally i was also looking at a single blade throttle body and jlp thunder pipe. i can get the throttle body very cheap from my friend who is demodding his truck. and also is the thunder pipe worth it?? and will it work with the phenolic spacer??im trying to get my truck in the consitent low 12s. am i taking the right route or are other mods better choices. thanks alot!
the best mods are free mods.
Remove the IC and clean it spotless.
Clean out the intake, throttle body and the IAC.
I think Brisk is a scam, but it's my personsal, unscientific opinion.
Change the plugs, it will be the easiest change you'll ever do.
I took a flap wheel and matched my phenolic spacer to the porting, and then a dremmel to the intake openeing.
not sure if it did anything, but I like the idea of making it match.

The blower opening is not opened up much in the course of the apten porting and you may find that the plenum opening is larger than the blower opening. Worse yet, the phenolic spacer is bigger than both of 'em. Horsepower gains from the spacer are subject to debate, but the spacer will give you the chance to match the plenum to the spacer and use the same spacer to scribe the lines on the blower for the matching opening size. That way, if you run the spacer or not, at least the blower and plenum match!
While you have the Dremmel out, you may want to port and polish the upper plenum. I sent mine to Extrude Hone after hoggin' it out.
Like everyone said, match/smooth the plenum-spacer-blower inlet.
Throttle Body is a good idea, but I would change it after you get up and running again. You may have some adjusting to do. Don't get too many pots boiling at one time. Put it on when you install the Thunder Pipe. Yes it will work fine with the spacer.
Right or wrong... That's the way I see it.
Good Luck

Yeah very easy to do, but very time consuming. Just buy a Dremel with the flex cable for going round the bend in the upper pluemn.
Working 40 this week, new 2 week turnaround starts saturday morning. Suppose to be 6-10's but you know how that goes
I haven't had a saturday off in 3 months and averaging 60hrs a week

Any input for a fellow jersey'n on who to go w/for my built motor??
