Advise on my magnum setup

Alright.. those of you running the MP blower on the stock block, what pully combo's are you running to get to the 450 hp mark. I got the MP thinking it with a 4 lb lower would get me 450. That is what JDM told me (along with my other mods it would get me to 450hp). Now from what i have been reading the 4 lb lower pulley doesn't get you very far when swapping from the eaton to the MP but once you step up to the 6lb lower then the MP comes to life. But i am thinking that a 6lb lower and a 2.70 upper is quite alot for a stock block. I am wondering if many people out there are using this combo. My plans are just to do the 6lber and then retard the timing to around 14 and then run it on the dyno and adjust timing to achieve my desired hp. Advice? Thanks guys.

Im saving up right now for a MP. I plan on putting my 2lb lower on to start with and see what boos it makes and t hen ill put my 4lb on and go from there. I might even leave the nitrous on but jet it back to a 35

Take my advice after $900 in BS dyno tuning the Mag, buy a JDM superchip(magnum program) or SCT handheld and stick with the 4#lower unless you plan on upgrading the stock fuel system(injectors, pumps, ect, ect).

450+hp is very do-able w/the 4# lower

Do you have Long tube headers?

If so you could probably get away w/ the 6#lower and 50# injectors w/ your stock block at your own risk

Just my 2 cents
Good luck

stick with the 4lber, my truck ate it with the 6lb lower, magnum, upgraded fuel system, exhaust and 460 to the wheels, it was dyno tuned also. so far two rods out and I havent pulled the passenger cylinder head off yet.

Arrow 4 pound minimum

I started out with a 2 pounder on my MP. That didn't last very long.
The MP works best when it is spun hard. Amazingly, with the same chip, on the same day, the difference between the 2 pounder and the 4 pounder was 65 foot pounds of torque and 25 horsepower. I had to upgrade the injectors when I went to the four pounder.
Currently we are seeing 458HP on 12 degrees of timing(JDM Magnum street tune)

oohhh Alright. Thanks, this really clarifies things for me. I am much happier now and alot less worried. So what timing would you suggest. I think my predator tune is set at 18 degrees. But right now my air/fuel is at around 10:1. I have to get all the bugs worked out. I think i am dumping boost as well. Anyways thankyou all very much.

I am running the stock manifolds but no cats at this time. I wouldn't feel comfortable with a 6lb lower and a 2.70 upper no way. I am a poor college boy that likes to play(on the safe side) but will pay when he has to.

I had the MP on a full bolt on truck. After switching from a stock eaton to the MP and no other changes I went from 430hp 510tq to 480hp and 590tq. Stock block and 7 degrees less timing. My race tune before was 21-22 now it is 14 on the race side 11 on the street. mods are 6lbs lower, extrude hone intake, 2.70 upper, Full JDM exhaust, throttlebody, SCT chip, CAI, and spacer. I have since sold the truck and blower and picked up a new 04 Sonic Blue Lightning.

See you in a few days Jim and good luck at FFW, oh yea cant wait to see the new truck make some power.
