lightning in winter
i agree. ive had the f1's on for the winter and i was okay untill there was a couple of inches on the ground and then it was a new story. But this year i will get some sh*tty 16 inch rims and put some fat meaty tires on them and i should be okay.
MINE IS A NO DRIVER IN RAIN OR SNOW
Mine is a no driver in rain or snow but lightnings love cold weather with 500+ horsepower a lightning will get away from you in wet weather just my 02 worth
2 winters under my L's belt and no problems. Obviously you can't be stupid though. Don't expect to go out in the snow anymore than you would with any rear wheel drive sports car, just because it's a truck.

not worth it. Spend the money for tires on a beater to drive. Well worth it. The truck is driveable untill there is snow cover. Aint happening. I'm just north of boston so i Know. Not only that, but the salt and sand kills the truck...and you have to worry more about the other idiots on the road hitting you.
Buy a beater, front wheel drive, and save the L for fun. I know it sucks but in the long run you'll like it better! I got tired of loading 500 lbs of sand blast material into the back and hoping one of the bags doesn't tear. In my 91 f-150 I used to put two 11r22.5 tires/rim in the back, only had a 6 cylinder, it did pretty well through most snow. Ice storms kind of sucked though, but nobody goes through them well! I live in Elkton MD and people here freak out when the storm alert is sounded, guy's from my plant that came from Niagra, Mass, and Conn. get a big laugh about it!
Mine is like tlfwatch it don’t see the rain or snow. I bought a beater for $500 last year when I bought the L. Two reasons, first to garage the L in bad weather, and second I don’t trust the OTHER drivers on the road, especially the ones driving beaters like mine…

I drive my truck all year. I did the beater thing for years and basically I wasted away my warranty on my previous Lightning and my other car. Why bother storing it. I love driving the truck all of the time and I feel safer in it. I'm not saving this vehicle for a rainy day or falling under the illusion that it will appreciate in value. I want to drive it and enjoy it no matter what the weather calls for. A good quality clinging oil underspray and mutliple coats of a good synthetic wax will do wonders. Yup....a bit more work at Spring cleanup time but no worse for wear.
In the winter I am using 16 steel wheels (same as the spare rim) with Bridgestone winter duelers 255/70/15. They work like a charm and I had absolutely no problems up here!
