Installed FTVB and Moroso pan...question...

I just refilled it with 11 quarts of Mobil 1 ATF and the dipstick reads full...completely full...at the top of the "Do Not Add" line. I was told I would drain 6 quarts and that the Moroso pan would require an additional 4.5 quarts, but it seems like I added too much.

Will this be a problem? Will I have to drain?

BTW, this is the BEST FACKING MOD EVA!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe I went this long without it!!

Take your truck for a drive and then check it when your done, if it reads to full, then you can drain a little trans fluid out of the pan so the fluid level is were it needs to be.

Is the Mobil I you used synthetic? Did you drain the torque converter?

If not, assuming you didn't already change to synthetic before the install, I don't think you're supposed to mix and match Mercon and Synthetic.

Glad you're enjoying the VB. It is definitely a 'before' and 'after' kinda mod.

Yes, the Mobil 1 is synthetic. I didn't drain the torque converter.

I poured Mobil 1 per Tim's recommendation.

Before you checked your transmission fluid level did you let the truck warm up and then cycle the shifter through all the gears including reverse? To begin with you should let it warm up to normal operating temperature then run the shifter through all the gears, go to one gear and wait for it to engage then to the next gear etc ending with park. Then check the fluid with the truck running.

If it looks ok even if it shows to add a little or a little overfull then take it out for a good 15 minute drive and then do the same thing above and see where it is. It is always best to check the transmission fluid after a 10 – 15 minute drive and then going through the gears with it parked and checking it when the motor is running.

I have never trusted checking it cold and/or just sitting without the motor running.

Thanks. I did do that, however, the fluid level covers the entire the measuring strip and then some.

You’re welcome. If you did that and have already taken it on a drive and its still over the “full” line then you should try to drain some, depending on how “over” the line it is, then maybe try draining a 1/2qt or so.

I installed mine over a year ago but I think I either emailed or posted a question about mixing and Gregg said not to.

If you got that many quarts of synthetic in, you must have drained a good amount of the fluid before the change.

May'be someone more technical than me (ha ha) will chime in on this.

Not busting your chops. Just don't want to see anything happen to your trans unneccesarily.
