Thumbs up Back In A Lightning...

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to stop in and say Hi! I had a '99 L one of the first ones - like 300 and something. Read this board back in '99-'00 then sold the L and wish I never had done it.

Anyway, just about ready to take delivery of an '04 Silver L. I've missed this truck a lot and have kicked myself over and over again for letting it go.

Cars I have had in the meantime - '01 Corvette (fast, great handling, poor build quality, bad service - dealer treated me like it was a $8000 car)

'02 Toyota Tundra V8 Limited - TRD Supercharged with lots of ad ons. Makes about 340 hp... but it isn't a lightning!

I've had a number of small engine related problems with the Tundra. I'm sure because of the add on supercharger. Finally decided it was time to step back into an L.

So - thats my story. I have continued to read this board over the last few years. Can't wait to take delivery of the new L!

Jeff

Glad you got a new version. Good luck with it. You know they're good when they stick in your head like that.

From: Colorado,
Nice to meet ya Rich.

I to had a 99 picked it up used with some issues but new I was hooked.
Traded it for an 04 with no regrets.

Lots of changes since 99.

20 more horses
Beefed up engine block webbing
more threads for the spark plugs
better head gasket
50% bigger intake manifold with guide runners
bigger intercooler that don't leak
premium gold engine coolant
bigger MAF
better radio
more weight carrying capacity
lower R/P gearing 3:73
aluminum driveshaft
Lighter weight wheels
larger 14MM wheel studds
new rubber compound in the F1's
Billstien shocks
better fog lights (less prone to crack)
headlights and fogs have a little SVT sig in the light itself
tinted windows
two vanity mirror's w/lts
two oh poop handles
child seat buckle clips
perferated leather rap steering wheel
deeper dash cup holders
turn signals on the mirrors + color match
better rear window seal
upgraded carpet (navigator)
LED rear 3rd brake light
Keyless entry
spare tire locking device
brushed aluminum door handles
mine came with the toneau cover ( I love it)

IMPO the only things mandatory to do is clunk washers and check the drain on your AC to make sure it goes outside and don't get the carpet wet.
For fun I would do the tranny valve, intake and exhaust

Sorry bout the long post but I guess I was just reveiwing the list for my own sake.
