I want to see the INSIDE of a Volant box!!!
Volant apparently has magic, trade-secret gnomes (:santa: ) working inside the Lightning airbox offering, or they don't think it's important to show what the insides look like. Is there a cone in there? And if so, what size is it?

I have one in my s/c xterra. Just a bigger plastic box then stock with a cone. What I like is the one piece tube for hosuing the MAF sensor. I hated all the connections on my other intakes, especially for a short run. Just very cluttered looking.
The filter is AFE.

I'll never understand why a company like Volant will spend a whole lot of time and money into developing a well thought out airbox only to stick in a conical filter without an opening at the end of the filter to take advantage of the only source of incoming air.

I might swap to an S&B open end filter as I ran my best times consistantly with one in another custom set-up, but I took that intake out for the cleaner factory looking Volant.

Just an idea.
I kind of like how that kit looks in general..looks stock....but I dont think I could ADD plastic to my truck.....maybe if they made a polished metal version...but its pricey for what it is already

Maybe because they tested them and found out that they didn't make a lick of difference.

I like the dual cone filter better as well.
As an aside, on a 700 RWHP Mustang, one of those filters is worth 10-15 HP because of the sheer volume going through it (this is supposedly dyno tested).
