Why are these so expensive? Is there something special with the Volant?

I noticed that the JLP and PSP cai's are cheaper but they don't come with a maf to tb tube... any reason? I just wonder about the stock maf-tb tube. but you add those tubes and they become way expensive.

Are there really differences? I read the cai thread... but really came to no conclusion. Does it come down to what you want? The K&N FIPK claims a good hp gain. Anybody have one? It's $230 if anybody cares.

I got my Volant box back in June and it is a very good unit. I did feel a power increase with it and the construction and quality of the unit was excellent. I like the completely closed off filter setup myself, which is why I chose this setup. I imagine the results are the same with the K/N or Airraid setup. You aren't going to get a lot out of a stock vehicle other than a better blower whine sound.

Odin.....did those extra holes help out at all?

I had it.
My opinion is it's not a power gainer.

I have switched between it and the stock air box w/ the holes cut out in the bottom several times.

The Volant gave me 2 less mph and lost a 10th in the 1/4.

Plus the worst part about it, it quieted down the blower whine.

FYI

Ill sell it for cheap to anyone

Yes, it helps a lot. I changed to the JLP setup when I installed my MP blower though. I couldn't get enough air. The Volant is good if you aren't making a lot of boost. I'm not sure where to draw the line; but, if I had to make an educated guess based on my experience with the Volant, I'd say if you're running more than a 4# pulley, that an open element kit like Sal's or Johnny Lightnings is a better choice.

My experience is the same as "**** 4". I will also sell mine cheap. A stock box with Airaid or K&N and additional air inlet is faster at the races.
